Welcome! I have a lot of experience, and really enjoy working, with college students! My approach is highly individualized, and I have helped numerous people to heal, reduce symptoms, and essentially lead a more fulfilling life. I would be happy to assist you in your journey, too.
As a licensed psychologist in New York, I specialize in working with both adolescents and adults who are facing anxiety, life changes, self-esteem struggles, stress, and challenges related to major life changes (such as going to college). My goal is to create a supportive, non-judgmental space where you feel heard and understood My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and integrative. I combine evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, and mindfulness techniques. This combination helps address the unique challenges you may be facing while building self-awareness and self-compassion along the way. In our sessions, you can expect to share your story, and I will take the time to truly understand your experiences. Together, we’ll work to identify your needs and start developing strategies for managing stress and navigating life’s transitions. I believe that the therapeutic journey should be a partnership, and I’ll be there with you every step of the way
No one intends to be in therapy forever. Many clients arrive with familiar worries, yet the deeper concerns beneath those worries often tell a different story. They may say, “I want to fix my anxiety,” “fix my depression,” or “quit vaping weed.” What they’re truly expressing is a desire to flourish, to strengthen their relationships, and to finally move beyond the patterns that keep holding them back. I honor your courage that it takes to pursue meaningful change. As we begin our work together, we draw on a wide range of tools to help you reconnect with yourself and build a life that feels more purposeful, fulfilling, and aligned with who you want to be. Clients leave sessions with renewed hope and practical skills that empower them to face challenges rather than avoid them. You’ll benefit from a therapeutic approach shaped by 15 years of experience and recognized excellence in the field. Reach out today to schedule your complimentary consultation. I guarantee that I'll follow up within three business days.
I was born and raised in Montana and have a genuine passion for nature and the outdoors. I received my Bachelors in Psychology at Montana State University in 2001. I then pursued my Masters of Social Work degree and graduated in 2008 from the University of Montana. This graduate program had a focus on providing a social justice and integrated practitioner perspective. I have an eclectic style that can be tailored to each unique individual. My primary therapeutic methods include Mindfulness Based, Holistic, Exposure, Narrative, Cognitive and Behavioral, Strengths Based & Solution Focused Therapies. Amy provides a non-judgmental and compassionate environment that often helps people feel comfortable. A true passion of mine is structuring therapeutic activities for clients to express, process, increase self-awareness, and de-stress from life’s challenging and developmental experiences. My past work experiences have been in several areas. I have worked in healthcare with the geriatric population, provided school based mental health to kids from grades kindergarten through 12th grade, substance abuse counseling to college aged kids, crisis intervention with the armed forces and a private practice providing therapeutic services to a wide range of people, families and couples that include helping folks who struggle with Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders and life transitions/changes.
In my years of experience I have come to realize so much about living in the world robs us of our ability to acknowledge our own magic. Therapy should be a safe place for you to begin to reclaim that magic and learn how to discover your own power. By using a "bottom to top" approach to identify how long held, negative beliefs, have kept you reliving and repeating the past, you can finally live in the present. I provide a safe, non judgemental space for you to work through trauma and reclaim the power inherent in you.

Hello, I'm a mental health counselor licensed in the state of NY. I have worked in community mental health since 2015 in both clinic and primary care medical settings. My clients have presented a wide range of concerns, including: depression, anxiety, OCD, grief, substance abuse, capitalism, fascism, and adjustment to life after incarceration. Regardless of what issues bring you to therapy, I work from the assumption that YOU are not the problem. Rather, the situation is the problem, and we work together to transform it. This process often involves shifting your view, giving yourself grace, and deepening compassion for yourself. Before graduate school, I was a community organizer and activist addressing issues of social, ecological, and economic concern; my undergraduate degrees are in Community Health and Peace and Justice Studies. I often use a systems perspective to address problems, and I have experience working with trauma related to systemic harm and oppression. I strive to be supportive and curious in my role as a counselor. Working in this field means that I learn (and unlearn) every day. I am honored to walk alongside the people who invite me into their lives, and I do my best to offer honesty and compassion in a safe and respectful way. I value broad access to psychotherapy and gladly offer a sliding fee scale.

I am a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (CBT) and I specialize in treating obsessive compulsive disorder and anxiety disorders. My job is to help you feel less distress so that you can do the things you want and need to do. If you are looking for a "no nonsense", short-term, targeted, and evidence based treatment, then I am probably the right therapist for you. I also provide longer term treatment and support if needed. I specialize in working with survivors of childhood abuse and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). My training is extensive, including EMDRIA-approved Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Brainspotting (BSP), Internal Family Systems informed interventions (IFS), and couples therapy. I am committed to serving the LGBTQ+ community, offering support for gender-affirming surgery letter evaluations. My goal is to help you process the past so it no longer dictates your present, providing a space where you feel seen and supported. I offer specialized modalities to help process traumatic memories safely and effectively. In my work with couples and sexual health, I take a sex-positive, judgment-free approach, supporting clients through mismatched desire, intimacy barriers, and navigating non-traditional relationship structures such as polyamory or open relationships. Whether we are using somatic techniques or cognitive tools, our work is always collaborative and tailored to your unique healing. Establishing a strong therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in healing; ensuring a comfortable fit is a priority. In our first session, we will focus on building a foundation of safety and respect. We’ll discuss your history, current concerns, and future goals at a pace you are comfortable with. You can expect a professional yet warm environment where we identify the specific roadblocks you would like to overcome. By the end of our meeting, we will have a clear plan for moving forward towards your goals and you will leave with a sense of direction.
