Therapists for college students near New York University
Hi there—I’m Molly! I work young adults and provide a supportive, nonjudgmental therapeutic environment. Clients often describe my style as warm, approachable, and genuinely engaged, bringing a steady “golden retriever energy” into the therapy space. My approach is collaborative and client-centered. I value building a strong therapeutic relationship and meeting each client where they are. For those who are interested, I am able to thoughtfully integrate a Christian, faith-based perspective into our work together. I welcome you to reach out with any questions about my approach or the therapy process. You can send me a message or give me a call to explore whether we might be a good fit. Thanks for stopping by!
My work focuses on adults who experience relationship difficulties (romantic, with family, or friends), anxiety, depression, grief, low self-esteem, academic concerns, and trauma - especially from relationships, prior domestic violence, family, and prejudices (i.e. sizeism, classism, xenophobia, sexism, racism, homophobia, neurodiversity discrimination). I see individuals and couples virtually or in person within a culturally sensitive practice. We recognize the nuanced experiences of marginalized people including people of color, immigrants, 1st gen college students, women, neurodivergent, working class, and queer folks. I see people as shaped by life experiences, relationships, identities, family, culture, and society. Plus we're unique individuals! Our work will consider all of this. I like to collaborate with my clients and strive to be honest, patient, flexible, nonjudgmental, warm, humble, curious, empathic, and social justice minded. I'm a neurotypical, cis, het, biracial, Black Puerto Rican woman from a working class, urban neighborhood. My approach is decolonial, anti-racist, LGBTQ+ affirming, immigrant allied, feminist, & trauma-informed. I'm a psychodynamic, relational clinician also trained in CBT, ACT, self-compassion, MI, and attachment. I'm physically located in Rochester, NY.
The ancient rationale for psychotherapy in three quotations: 1) ''He who cannot describe the problem will never find the solution to the problem'' - Confucious (551-479 BCE); 2) ''The unexamined life is not livable for a human being'' (paraphrased as, ''The unexamined life is not worth living'') - Socrates, in Plato's ''Apology'' (ca 360 BCE); 3) ''Whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the whole truth; to know the worst, and to provide for it.'' - Patrick Henry (1739-1799)

Reaching out for support can be hard, but you are not alone. Everyone has experienced their own life journey which can involve grief/loss, relational ruptures, parenting struggles or trauma. Sometimes this journey can leave adults in a place where it is hard to find the motivation to complete everyday tasks, manage life stress or have patience with our loved ones. This can be true for children too, which may cause them to struggle in school, have emotional outbursts or display signs of anxiety. No matter what is bringing you, your child, or family to this moment in time, I am honored to be a part of your journey. With 7+ years of experience working with adults, teens, children and infants I am well versed in several different therapeutic techniques that can be adapted to fit each person’s needs. In addition to being a clinical social worker, I am also a Registered Play Therapist and have extensive training in providing Infant/Child-Parent Psychotheray. It is crucial to healing to find a therapist that is the right fit. I believe that meaningful change comes from having a safe space where you can bring your true and authentic self without judgement; this is true for both adults and children. My goal is not to have the answers but to partner with you through the journey of healing and discovering yourself.
No two people are the same. Therefore, I strive to provide treatment that fits each person’s unique needs and goals. I work to foster a partnership with each individual that respects their own problem-solving style while providing additional tools to address unmet needs. I believe that everyone has strengths and challenges. Our work together can fortify those strengths while mitigating challenges to reduce stress and suffering in daily life. <script src="https://thrivingcampus.com/verified.js?pid=17291"></script>

Thoughts and emotions can be so powerful, but they can lead us to feeling stuck, lost, confused, dread, or even exhausted. We become so worked up that we might not know how to manage. We tend to isolate, panic, feel unseen, feel unheard, and become irritated because we don’t have the words. Clients will get to meet their present selves by exploring multiple aspects of their lives such as relationships with others and themselves, inner dialogue, communication, anxiety, depression, and more.As a therapist, I aim to create a space where clients have the opportunity to be vulnerable, grow, and feel empowered while working toward their goals and developing new skill sets. I offer a compassionate, creative, and individualized approach that is collaborative and non-judgmental. Together we will develop a deeper understanding of emotions, somatic symptoms, inner dialogue, boundaries, and how we view ourselves in order to improve our quality of life.
