Therapists for college students near Harvard University
My approach to therapy is individualized, compassionate, and integrative. My clients are looking to improve their relationships, develop insight into their own behaviors, or be the best students and people they can be. I take a collaborative approach with my clients as we walk together on their journey to create positive change in their lives.
Do you find yourself stuck or pained in relationships - with yourself, others, the world, or your past? The struggle may show up as loneliness, emptiness, maladaptive interpersonal patterns, or as symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, disordered eating etc. I strive to create trust in a nonjudgmental and authentic atmosphere, from where we work together to understand and help resolve your struggles. My style in session is warm, collaborative, and actively engaged. I'm not a passive listener who nods along silently—I'm present with you, noticing what's happening in the room, gently drawing attention to patterns, emotions, and moments that matter, including the ones you might be inclined to gloss over. Sometimes our work is more experiential—slowing down to sit with what's emerging rather than rushing past it. Other times it's more practical and action-oriented—working on concrete strategies, trying new behaviors, or building skills you can use between sessions. I blend insight-oriented, cognitive-behavioral, and emotion-focused approaches in individualized ways that fit who you are and what you're working through. I bring extensive experience across college counseling centers and mental health clinics, having most recently served as a staff psychologist at Harvard University Health Services, and previously at Case Western Reserve University, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Northwestern University (where I completed my postdoctoral fellowship). I am now in full-time private practice. I'm also the Chinese translator of Irvin Yalom's Existential Psychotherapy and The Gift of Therapy, and serve on the Expert Committee at Jiandanxinli (简单心理), the largest therapist platform in China.
Feeling stuck in a cycle of anxiety, OCD, or self-doubt? I work with children, adolescents, young adults, and adults who are struggling with anxiety, eating challenges and OCD. Using evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Exposure Therapy, I help clients build practical skills, develop resilience, and break free from patterns that keep them stuck so they can move toward a more meaningful, fulfilling life. I have worked with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, eating disorders (restrictive eating, ARFID), and obsessive-compulsive disorders. As a South Asian clinician, I believe in the importance of providing culturally sensitive evidence-based care to clients. I am an out-of-network provider and can provide superbills for those seeking reimbursement from insurance. The fastest way to reach me is via email.
There are times in life when we all need extra support and it can be difficult to ask for help. By reading this, you have already taken the first step. Let’s work together to process the hardships you are faced with in order to improve your mental health and emotional well-being. I believe humans are innately resilient and I am here to provide you with a safe and non-judgmental space to help you recognize your strengths and ability to cope. I am a trauma-focused, strengths-based clinician with 15+ years of experience who will guide and support you throughout your therapeutic journey. I believe trust and open communication are the foundation to a strong therapeutic relationship that will help you reach your goals -- whether they be unpacking traumatic events or guiding you through a difficult period in your life. Feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or hopeless? Emotions running wild? Past traumas haunting your present? As a trained therapist, I specialize in addressing underlying issues swiftly. With warmth and empathy, I'll create a safe space for you to overcome these struggles and transition from simply surviving to thriving. As a therapist, I act as an emotional support, teacher, and guide on the client’s journey so they gain the skills, insight, and confidence they need. I firmly believe that everyone has the capacity to grow and heal from whatever they have experienced in life. I am trained in EMDR which is a powerful therapy technique that can facilitate the reprocessing of traumatic or negative experiences. It reduces emotional distress and promotes healing, leading to improved emotional well-being and a greater sense of empowerment. I am also trained in IFS, which is a transformative therapy approach that helps individuals understand their emotional struggles. It views the mind as a system of different parts, each with its own unique role and purpose. By fostering self-awareness and compassion, IFS allows individuals to develop a harmonious relationship with their internal parts leading to increased self-acceptance, improved emotional regulation, and a greater sense of wholeness and inner peace.
My practice focuses on helping clients feel safe, heard and understood in order to process current experiences. Through identification of thoughts and feelings we can then look at new ways of coping and developing skills to manage the human experience. The foundation of my work is evidence based cognitive behavioral therapy. All sessions are conducted via a HIPPA secure telehealth platform.

Do you ever just want someone to talk to who is not judgmental, and will offer sound advice for no other reason than wanting you to feel better? Time and time again, I have seen that when you gain insight and understand the valid origins of your beliefs and behaviors, you can make healthier choices.
Hello, If you have found this page I commend you for working to find a resource with whom to unpack the issues causing you confusion and suffering. I have an extensive clinical history working with people in a variety of settings with a large array of presenting issues, ranging from mood/thought disorders, developmental delays, trauma, family conflict, addictions, life-transitions, stress-related issues, and many other simple and complex problems. As a result, I have a level of comfort in working with a wide range of people with a wide range of issues from a wide range of backgrounds. I am a culturally sensitive trauma-informed clinician chiefly concerned with ensuring that you feel seen, heard, and safe in our relationship. I tend to work from a strengths-based biopsychosocial perspective with a focus on the emergence of one's self in a social and relational context, specifically how this self is created, developed, and sustained. However, most importantly, I will work to gain mutual clarity about how you can begin to shift the notions of our who your "self" is and how it can attain increasing amounts of peace in your life.
At Safe Space Counseling Services, we are dedicated to providing compassionate and professional mental health therapy to support individuals on their journey towards emotional well-being and personal growth. The goal here is to foster an environment where individuals can feel safe, understood, and empowered to tell their story so that they can gain a better understanding of themselves and start taking the steps towards making a difference in their lives. Are you ready to make a difference?
My practice focuses supporting people in clarifying their values and in living lives that realize their deepest values. I believe that there are many ways to be mentally healthy, and I pursue a pluralistic view of mental health, one which varies from person to person. I aim to be a patient and supportive companion for you to determine what is important to you and to make meaningful change. I have worked as a professor at a number of universities in the US and abroad, and I have also worked as a social worker for young adults with mental illness. My academic and psychiatric experience makes me an ideal fit for working with students (undergraduate or graduate) who are facing life transitions or mental health challenges. Therapy is an exciting journey and it is always a pleasure to meet new or potential clients. I look forward to hearing from you.
You’re ready to heal from the past and from the years worth of stress you’ve carried on your shoulders. You want to fully step into the “new you”, to be present, and enjoy your life and the people in it. Instead, you spend your days overwhelmed, stressed, and unsure of what your next steps should be. Your mind races at night, with all the things that could go wrong. Therapy can help you take steps forward. It can help you learn about yourself, heal trauma, get unstuck, and break cycles. If you’re ready, I am committed to partnering with you, with empathy, compassion, and humility, to learn more about yourself, gain tools to heal, and (re)discover the “you” that has been hiding and is ready to thrive.
