Therapists for college students near Harvard University
Hi! I'm Yasmine. I work clinically with adolescents, teenagers, and young adults grappling with issues ranging from anxiety to trauma to cultural identity shifts. Therapy creates a space to better understand ourselves and the way our past impacts our present. In sessions, I work with clients to uncover patterns that contribute to an overall feeling of dissatisfaction in life. This provides the roadmap to help clients build a life that feels full, joyful, and meaningful. Clients tell me that I am warm, non-judgemental, and bring a welcome sense of humor into sessions. Therapy can be hard work. But it is work that I love doing and something that I take very seriously. My practice is informed by my interest in psychology, sociology, anthropology, and feminist studies. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology from Brown University and my Master's in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania. In the past decade, I have lived in Senegal, Colombia, the Dominican Republic and Lebanon, and I bring a multicultural perspective into the therapeutic space.

College students today face so many pressures: family and peer expectations, major life decisions, an onslaught of social media messages, and multiple socio-political crises. Though these problems are daunting, you do not need to face them alone. I would be grateful to accompany you as you respond to the questions and challenges impacting your life. In my work thus far, my clients have often felt a sense of separation or space open up between themselves and their problems. I have helped people feel “known” for who they want to be in life, separate and apart from the influence of depression, anxiety, failure, addiction, conflict, hardship, etc. This gives them more room to explore the forgotten or not-yet-developed stories of their hopes, passions, values, and purposes, which can contribute to a feeling of empowerment in facing whatever difficult experiences brought them to therapy. Though I help people navigate many different kinds of mental and emotional challenges, I have a particular interest in having therapy conversations with folks 1) concerned about the environment, 2) interested in or wondering about their spirituality/ religion, and 3) who identify as men or who are dealing with the effects of patriarchy.

My experience on the other side of the 'couch' has shown me that real change is possible when you make your mental health a priority. It takes courage to ask for support, and you don't have to face life's challenges alone. Therapy provides a safe, supportive space for you to share and process what you’ve been carrying. In our sessions, I’ll use strengths-based approaches, insight-building techniques, and various therapeutic modalities to help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and achieve your personal goals. I strive to create a safe environment where your story is valued, and you are treated as the expert of your own lived experiences. I specialize in supporting individuals who have a sense of overwhelm, ruminating thoughts, burnout, lack of motivation, disconnected, feeling hopeless and detached, and life transitions. What You Can Expect: - Problem Solving: We'll focus on addressing the issues causing you the most stress right now. - New Understanding: You'll gain clarity on your symptoms, triggers, and responses, making them less intimidating and more manageable. - Tools and Strategies: You'll learn evidence-based techniques to manage overwhelming thoughts and emotions. - Confidence: You'll recognize your strength in handling anxiety, guilt, and sadness, empowering you to take control. I consider the relationship between client and therapist one of the most important factors in therapy. As a therapist, my goal is to create a comfortable, non-judgmental space so I can assist others in exploring negative patterns in their lives and help them develop new tools to foster positive coping skills. I utilize a holistic approach to therapy, with special focus on the body and mind and how they interact. As a registered yoga teacher, my treatment approach places emphasis on turning inward and reconnecting with the body to help release stored emotions. I use a trauma-informed approach to life issues with clients and incorporate mindfulness skills, somatic movement, and breathwork into my therapy practice. I specialize in treating anxiety disorders, PTSD, and mood disorders. Additionally, I work with clients who are experiencing grief and loss, life transitions, addiction, caregiver stress, interpersonal/relationship problems, and codependency.
