Therapists for college students near 53715
I work with individuals who are managing multiple responsibilities and expectations but feel like they’re quietly falling apart under the pressure to hold everything together. I enjoy working with people from all walks of life who are navigating stress, burnout, anxiety, or major life changes. They’re looking for a space to slow down, feel truly seen, and learn tools to cope more effectively. They want relief, clarity, and a path forward that feels more sustainable and aligned with who they are. My clients want therapy that is modern, accessible, and holistic from a provider who is experienced and relatable.
You don’t have to go through life’s challenges alone. I work with adults facing depression, anxiety, grief, trauma/complex PTSD, life transitions such as being in college, addiction, and chronic pain. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered to take the next step toward healing. I take a holistic, person-centered approach to therapy, tailoring treatment to your unique needs. Depending on your goals, we may use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, mindfulness, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), somatic work, Rogerian Therapy, motivational interviewing, or other evidence-based practices. I have a down-to-earth, gentle style and the belief that you are the expert in your own life. I’m here to walk alongside you, offering tools, insight, and encouragement as you move toward growth and relief. I’m passionate about this work because I’ve seen the profound changes that happen when people are given the space and support to heal.
I specialize in working with LGBTQIA+ and neurodiverse individuals. I have experience assisting people in working on mood and anxiety disorders, grief and identity exploration.
College can be an exciting and transformative time, but it can also be overwhelming. Many students navigate academic pressure, shifting relationships, financial stress, identity exploration, and expectations that can feel impossible to meet. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, burnout, or simply feeling lost or disconnected, you deserve support that meets you where you are. My practice offers a grounded, nonjudgmental space for college students to slow down, reflect, and understand what they’re experiencing. I work collaboratively with students to navigate both personal and systemic challenges common in higher education—especially for those who feel marginalized, misunderstood, or stretched thin. Together, we focus on strengthening coping strategies, regulating stress, building self-trust, and reconnecting to your goals and values. My approach is relational, trauma-informed, and rooted in both clinical expertise and real-world experience supporting young adults. Therapy is not about “fixing” you; it’s about helping you feel more stable, empowered, and connected as you move through school and life. I welcome undergraduate, graduate, and returning students from all backgrounds, including those balancing school with work, caregiving, or recovery. You don’t have to navigate this chapter alone—support is here when you’re ready.
I help college students cope with mental health challenges that get in the way of school and relationships. Having too much self-control, or overcontrol, makes it hard to enjoy life and connect meaningfully with others. It’s exhausting to feel like you’re always ‘on’, performing, or wearing a mask. Overcontrol can lead to problems like anxiety, depression, disordered eating, obsessive-compulsive behaviors, and intimacy avoidance. You don’t have to struggle alone–I’ve been a therapist working with LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and other overcontrolled folks for over 10 years. Together, we can get you unstuck. Using practical (and fun!) research-validated strategies, you’ll learn to harness your self-control as a strength and break free from patterns that burn you out. Finding a therapist who gets you can be stressful. Let’s make this process easier for you: email me, call me, or visit waveways.org, and we’ll schedule a free consultation to discuss your hopes and needs.
You don’t have to stay stuck between who you were and who you want to be. I help youth and adults heal from trauma, depression, anxiety and a multitude of different life issues through compassionate, culturally responsive therapy. Together, we focus on understanding your story, building emotional awareness, and developing practical tools to restore balance and confidence. With more than a decade in mental health and six years in clinical practice, I’ve learned that true healing happens when structure meets compassion. I work with children and adults, helping them navigate life’s challenges with curiosity and courage. My approach blends practical skill-building with genuine connection, creating a space where you grow.
I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with more than 15 years of experience in community mental health. I have worked across a wide range of settings, including outpatient therapy, crisis services, and intensive community programs, and have supported people through some of the most difficult moments of their lives. In addition to providing therapy, I have supervised clinical teams and led mental health programs, giving me a broad perspective on what truly helps people heal. I work with adults experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, and major life transitions. I provide LGBTQ+ affirming care and am committed to creating a space where clients of all identities feel respected, understood, and safe to be themselves. My style is warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth. I believe therapy should feel like a steady place where you can be honest about what you’re going through—without judgment or pressure to be anything other than yourself. I focus on building a strong therapeutic relationship and helping clients develop practical tools while also making space for deeper healing and self-understanding.
I started Influential Connections Counseling, after having worked 11 years with adults and families in the human service areas of abuse, neglect, trauma, substance abuse, domestic violence, relationship challenges, and various mental health diagnoses. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist and certified social worker. I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship. A relationship that relies on trust, connection, empathy, and mutual respect. It can take time to build the therapeutic relationship. I often describe therapy as a space to discuss the good, the bad, and the ugly. Life is challenging, ever changing, and beautiful. Whether life's changes are positive or negative, it influences our mental health, our relationships, and our physical bodies. The therapeutic process happens in session and in your daily life as you build self-awareness and enhance skills to obtain your goal(s).

You didn’t end up here because you’re weak, you ended up here because carrying everything alone most likely became too heavy. I work with teens (15+), adults, and couples to break out of patterns around self-esteem, trauma, substance use, and relationships. Therapy with me is warm and honest and I aim to create a space where you feel safe and supported yet challenged to confront what keeps you stuck. I became a therapist because I’ve been on the other side of struggle and I know how powerful it can be to feel truly understood. In particular, I relate well with teens who are struggling with self-esteem, school struggles, and stress related to their future. Please reach out today if you are looking for someone who truly “gets it”.
Charlie Health is a virtual behavioral health program for adolescents and young adults with moderate or severe mental health concerns or co-occurring substance use or eating disorders. Designed to meet the needs of those who require more than weekly therapy, our program combines curated group therapy, individual therapy, and family therapy into personalized treatment programs. We are helping to serve those who are in crisis, or have been historically underserved, by eliminating the most significant treatment barriers: geographical and financial access. We work with nearly all commercial insurance nationwide and have no waitlist, thereby helping people access quality, evidence-based care regardless of insurance, location, or other barriers.
Many people need help through the rough patches in life, while others struggle every day with a mental illness. I use an eclectic approach to therapy utilizing strength and evidence-based therapies such as Bibliotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Family Therapy, Gottman Method for Couples Therapy, Mindfulness, Psycho-education, Solution Focused Therapy, as well as Supportive Therapy.
