Open Space Counseling, Consulting & Wellness was founded in 2018 to create a safe, inclusive, and progressive space where people can move from merely surviving their lives to truly thriving. Our vision is to create a warm space that is inviting anyone who feels “other” or believes that their “stuff” will be judged—for both our clients and our employees. This includes concerns related to addiction, trauma, and LGBTQIA+, among many other things. We strive to create a laid-back, family-like atmosphere among our staff, and we believe that happy employees play a large role in ensuring that we have happy clients. Open Space CCW is a LGBTQIA+ affirming, relationship minority affirming, and racial justice-oriented therapy group.

My therapeutic approach is relational, solution-focused, multiculturally informed, and evidence-based. I believe that cultivating a nurturing, nonjudgmental environment is the foundation for therapeutic outcomes. With a CBT- and DBT- informed approach, my clients utilize therapy to explore long-standing problems, navigate current stressors, and work on more effective ways to manage mental health symptoms. I strive to help my clients build a life that feels meaningful and rewarding, where they feel more at ease and more successful in various areas (and various stages). I specifically have experience working with teens and young adults with mood disorders, depression, anxiety, and self-harm. Current openings for new clients are available as of 9/1/2021. Throughout our lives, experiences we have can lead us to feel disconnected in various ways, from our own sense of self and values, important people in our life, and our emotions. This disconnection can result in feelings of loneliness and isolation, lack of motivation, overwhelming anxiety, or uncertainty about who we are and what we want in life and it often leads to unhealthy ways of coping (e.g., emotional eating, focusing too much on work, lack of self-care, etc.). My focus in working with clients is to help them reconnect with themselves, with others, and with their emotions so that they can lead a more satisfying life filled with meaningful relationships and purpose. My approach to therapy is primarily rooted in a modern psychodynamic orientation. As such, I value the development of a strong therapeutic relationship and meaningful connection with clients. Together, we work on understanding unhealthy patterns and improve ability to cope with distress, manage multiple life roles, live a more balanced life, and connect more fully with emotions. I am especially passionate about working with college-aged students and athletes who may be experiencing eating and/or body image concerns, as well as issues related to men and masculinity. . I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Penn State University and completed my internship and post-doctoral fellowship at the Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at Penn State University.

Together we will learn how your specific life experiences shape your biology to make you the person you are today. With this understanding we can find tools to reduce suffering and increase meaning in your life. Above all else, I value the human relationship. I believe my most important skill is helping people feel comfortable and build trust in the therapeutic alliance. Please reach out so you can tell me about yourself and your needs.

Your struggles are unique and complex. As a psychologist my aim is to help you explore your personal narratives, to understand how your past is affecting your present and keeping you from fulfilling your values. Whether you are experiencing difficulty with relationships, life events, healing from trauma, or simply don't find yourself enjoying your life as you once did, I will help you feel grounded while we gain a non-judgmental perspective on your struggles and put our minds together to strategize ways forward. I specialize in treatments for trauma, depression, anxiety, job stress, and relationship issues. I take a pragmatic and eclectic approach by integrating psychodynamic theories with evidence-based tools. I draw on treatments ranging from CBT, ACT, and CPT, tailoring treatment to your unique needs and experiences. I completed advanced training at Haverford College and the Dept. of Veteran Affairs Hospital where I continue to work as a trauma specialist. Finding a therapist you click with can be a daunting task but is a key part of healing. In therapy, I am open, creative, and curious. If my approach sounds right for you or if you’d like to learn more, please do not hesitate to reach out or visit my site to schedule an appointment for a free consultation. It would be my privilege to speak with you.

Maybe you’ve been through relational trauma, adoption, or foster care, or had to play the “responsible one,” or learned early on to keep the peace, stay perfect, and not take up too much space. Maybe you’re just tired of feeling anxious in relationships, like you’re never quite sure where you stand—or who you’re allowed to be. You deserve support that really gets it. The Therapy Center for Transformative Growth (TCTG) was founded by two adoptees from foster care—also therapists—who couldn’t find the kind of care they needed, so they built it. Our center is a space for anyone navigating complex family dynamics, attachment wounds, identity questions, and the lasting impact of early or repeated loss. We’re especially attuned to supporting college-aged adults, BIPOC folks, LGBTQIA+ communities, and women—people whose stories are often misunderstood, minimized, or ignored altogether. Our therapists help you name what’s been hard, understand how it’s shaped you, and find new ways to move through the world—with more clarity, connection, and compassion for yourself. Therapy with us isn’t about “fixing” you—it’s about helping you come home to yourself.

I am a licensed counselor, board-certified art therapist, and trauma-informed yoga practitioner who blends evidence-based treatments into a creative and personalized approach. I specialize as a HAES (Health At Every Size) clinician who utilizes mind-body approaches such as art therapy, somatic therapy, and yoga in conjunction with talk therapy to treat bio-psycho-social disorders such as eating disorders and disordered eating. My clients are looking to make lasting and impactful changes in their lives to gain insight into their mental health and improve their own well-being. I believe humor and creativity are integral to building a therapeutic relationship. I specialize in art therapy where individuals may work through their issues by gaining insight and expressing themselves through metaphor. Clients will gain greater insight into their mind-body connection, and how they can utilize their strengths to minimize feelings of shame and increase overall life satisfaction. I can assist in improving one's relationship with food, movement, perfectionist tendencies, and themselves. My clients work towards gaining insight into their mental health and its mind-body connection by identifying triggers, warning signs, and impacts of distress. My clients build coping and calming skills to manage symptoms, improving executive functioning, boundaries, and relationships with others and themselves.

I offer a client centered approach to care, valuing honesty, compassion, and accountability. I believe that that the client/therapist relationship should be one that is based on mutual trust & respect, open & honest communication, and ability to work collaboratively on treatment goals. If you are thinking about taking that brave next step, I would love to meet you, and it would be an honor to embark on that journey with you! I offer a remote treatment experience for those that would prefer to remain in the comfort of their own home. You can expect our first session to be a laid-back conversation, where you can share with me only what you feel comfortable as we build trust. If you wish to continue, we will set some goals together and work on a plan that meets your needs. Whether you are struggling with social pressures, academia stress, the adjustment to college life, substance abuse, depression, anxiety, or just feeling overwhelmed-- I am here to offer support and empowerment along the way.
