I am a Postdoctoral psychologist who works with individuals that are hoping to improve their relationship with themselves and with others. I have experience working with adults across the lifespan experiencing a variety of difficulties. My area of specialty is with clients who have a history of disordered eating patterns, as well as a history of trauma. In therapy I encourage clients to be curious about their experiences, and my hope is that together we will deepen our understanding of how your past may be currently impacting your present. My approach with clients is warm, direct, and collaborative. I believe personal change occurs best when we notice how our experiences show up for us mentally and physically, so my work often involves active use of the mind-body connection. I use an integrated trauma-informed approach to treatment, which may include the use of somatic internal family systems, relational, psychodynamic, humanistic, feminist therapy and I incorporate techniques from CBT and DBT when appropriate. I provide embodied centered therapy for people struggling in their relationship with food, all with the goal for clients to foster awareness of self, connection with others, and to reconnect to their capacity for full-bodied engagement with the world. Additionally, I offer comprehensive psychological assessments that include both cognitive and personality assessment tools. These assessments are best suited for individuals who are wondering if they may have ADHD and can help to clarify any other mental health diagnostic questions. The results will be provided to you via a written report, which can be used to further your treatment or to justify accommodations to support your needs. I currently am only seeing clients virtually. Please reach out to connect and see if we’d be a good fit. I look forward to meeting you!

With an individualized approach, we’ll work together to explore the reasons you reached out for therapy. What stories shape your sense of self and the world? Have you found yourself stuck or disempowered by the stories you tell about yourself or others? With my unique background in mental health counseling and doctorate in English Literature, I approach therapy as a collaborative, meaning-making process informed by story, culture, and connection. I aim to make your life more robust by empowering you to widen narrative possibilities. Given my continued connection to educational spaces, I am especially interested in the stories we tell ourselves about education, learning, and development (and the stresses that come with expectations around perfectionism). My approach is shaped by a strong awareness of “systems,” including educational/academic systems, recognizing that personal suffering is inseparable from how we are shaped by cultural and historical contexts. Through attuned listening to your story across the systems you inhabit, I work to position you as the author of your own life. I undertake a collaborative, rather than authoritative role in my therapeutic work. I am interested in an array of identities and “concerns” such as grief, depression, anxiety, “disordered” eating, existential dilemmas, LGBTQ-facing issues, illness, transitions, attachment, academic experiences, etc. Likewise, I employ a variety of approaches in my work—ACT, DBT, psychodynamic, narrative therapy, creative arts therapies, Gestalt, psychodynamic therapy, Internal Family Systems. At the core, I utilize a reparative lens: rather than solely foregrounding wounds, I champion joy, resilience, and the potential for healing. I invite you to embark on this path forward with me as we build a therapeutic space for honoring the complexity of your story and work to cultivate wholeness.

You might have had a bad break-up, lost a friend or loved one, or are just struggling to cope with the daily motions, seeking greater insight about changing patterns or navigating a confusing time in your life. You might be carrying the weight of so many untold stories and unfulfilled dreams within you, buried beneath years of struggle. You might be moving through life, feeling so fundamentally different, flawed, and alone at times. You might be wondering, "When can I finally breathe easier?" I see you, and I'm here. Through the questions you've been navigating as you journey into the unknowns of your self and your life. I specialize in working with complex trauma, anxiety, depression, attachment issues, low self-esteem, and dating/ relationship challenges. Because each person is different, psychotherapy is an individual, unique process. I draw from a range of experiential and evidence-based approaches including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), psychodynamic therapy, and expressive arts therapies. In exploring therapy, you've taken a courageous step toward self-discovery, healing, and empowerment.
The ancient rationale for psychotherapy in three quotations: 1) ''He who cannot describe the problem will never find the solution to the problem'' - Confucious (551-479 BCE); 2) ''The unexamined life is not livable for a human being'' (paraphrased as, ''The unexamined life is not worth living'') - Socrates, in Plato's ''Apology'' (ca 360 BCE); 3) ''Whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the whole truth; to know the worst, and to provide for it.'' - Patrick Henry (1739-1799)
Being self aware is a fantastic attribute ! Though sometimes it can get in the way of feeling our feelings. We may click in this therapeutic relationship if you feel like your self awareness is a double edged sword, where you can see what's going on but can't seem to change or manuever life as it goes.
There are times during our lives when we may benefit from talking with someone to explore our thoughts, emotions, and experiences related to transitions, trauma, loss, and other challenges. Often, thoughts, emotions, perceptions and environmental factors can interfere with our ability to reach our full potential. I view our work together as a shared journey toward your ideal self. I work to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your present experiences and work toward who you want to be. Together, we will work on clarifying your values and goals and help you move toward them in meaningful ways. I specialize in working with adults (18+) experiencing depression, anxiety, obsessive thoughts, trauma and/or adjusting to life transitions, health concerns, and grief/loss. I utilize treatment modalities including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Art Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
