I BELIEVE THAT EACH PERSON is a mosaic of experiences, identities, and values and I will tailor our work to your unique needs and goals. I am attentive to your story as an individual or couple as well as broader cultural and sociopolitical dynamics that may impact your experience. I am collaborative and not mysterious - I will share my thinking with you, explain what I believe you may find helpful and why, and welcome your feedback on what is and is not working for you. I WILL DRAW UPON MY TIME studying biology at Harvard to consider and share with you how biological elements such as sleep science, nutrition, stress response, and more may be impacting your wellbeing. I also am happy to discuss how your sexual health intersects with physical and emotional health, and have several years of experience in sex and relationship counseling. If you struggle with any aspect of sex ranging from desire, arousal, accessing pleasure, self-consciousness, or trauma, I am here to acknowledge the taboos around sex in our society, provide a space for open conversation individually or as a couple, and help you get what you want out of your sexuality and sex life. MY CLINICAL STYLE prioritizes validation and fostering a safe environment to navigate vulnerable topics together. Many people tend to invalidate their own emotions - if this sounds like you, I will support you in developing kinder self-talk and holding space for your feelings. We will uncover insight into why you may be stuck in certain patterns or cycles that are not serving you as an individual or in a relationship and use this knowledge to build new ways of moving forward and living your life how you want to. WE WILL REFLECT ON what gives you fulfillment and how to create a life full of meaning and enjoyment. At the same time, we will explore different tools, including somatic methods and emotional skills, that you can use to reduce stress, and anxiety, reshape negative thinking, improve tension-filled relationships, and overall work towards being happier, healthier, and more productive. We may think of the mind as something intangible, but it lives in the body. By learning to support your mental processes and physical well-being, you can achieve balance and peace. No matter where you are on this journey, I will meet you there and support you.

Ricardo Bermudez, LCSW. I listen to people to get a sense of what their needs are. We work collaboratively to develop goals to support the therapeutic process. I work with a variety of people. It depends on the need for therapy and if I have the skills to support the issue. I am open-minded and do not judge anyone for their life circumstances. Listening is the most useful skill for a therapist. This is a safe space for you to talk and have someone hear you. This is a collaborative process, and you are in the driver's seat.

Counseling is a brave space for clients to explore their experience, rewrite their narratives, and build stronger relationships. I also believe in a holistic approach to therapy to ensure all aspects of a person’s life are considered. Through my own mental health journey, I have learned the significance of collaborating with mind, body, and spirit. As a Black woman, I understand the need to provide mental health services to Black and minority communities, and to help eliminate negative stigmas about mental health for people of color. I am a sex-positive individual, who encourages identities outside of heteronormativity. I aim to help clients embark on their own wellness journeys and to cultivate a quality of life that reflects their personal values, cultures, and beliefs. I will use elements of DBT, Somatic, AEDP, Narrative Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing modalities to individualize treatment for each client’s specific needs and goals. I strive for a therapeutic relationship that can be the foundation for continual healing and growth, where learning takes the forefront and challenging discussions are encouraged. I am passionate and open to hearing my client's individual stories with fresh eyes, allowing them to connect and share their authentic selves in a non-judgmental environment.

Suffering from anxiety can be like falling into quicksand, the more you fight it, the deeper you sink. Do you feel lost in your struggle with anxiety or find it difficult articulate how you are feeling? Perhaps you tend to take care of others but can’t figure out how to take care of yourself? I believe you have the power within to change your life story and psychotherapy is the tool to help you lift yourself up. Imagine being the author and the main character in your life story, with the ability to create change and move towards a more meaningful life. Narrative therapists like me use stories as a vehicle for healing, as the way we all experience life is largely defined by our own internal narrative. Sometimes, other people or negative events can write chapters in our life’s story. My goal is, through open and trusting dialogue, to help you reauthor your story, take control of your narrative, and heal. I know personally how vulnerable it can be to look for help. That’s why I bring optimism, hope, perseverance, and compassion to my clinical work and will walk alongside you in your journey to greater insight, self-awareness, and growth. I am currently accepting new clients, so when you are ready, reach out and see if we would be a good fit to work together!

Clinical Social Work/Therapist
St. Petersburg, FL

PSYCHOTHERAPY SERVICES: Rebecca’s clinical focus is on helping adult female identified dancers develop healthy relationships with their bodies and food. She guides clients in reconnecting with their bodies, often using the process of “embodiment,” a multilayered awareness of your body and how you connect to or relate to the world around you. Through the holistic practices of mind- body awareness, Rebecca educates her clients on how their emotions may sometimes be reflected through physical symptoms, often called psychosomatic symptoms. Working with Rebecca, clients also receive guidance on eating in a self attuned way to manage disordered eating behaviors. She works from the Health at Every Size (HAES) perspective and helps clients understand the internal and external factors that contribute to disordered eating, body image issues and problems with self esteem. Dancers are always on display, whether taking recreational classes at the studio or at rehearsal and especially during performances. Outside of the dance world, there’s the everyday societal expectations of how our bodies should be. Rebecca is familiar with the unique challenges dancers face on and off stage. PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENT COACHING FOR PERFORMING ARTISTS: Contact Rebecca for more information. With her background in Applied Sports and Performance Psychology, Rebecca offers individual and group coaching sessions to adult dancers. Coaching sessions are available to help dancers of all levels achieve improved overall performance, using mental skills training. Coaching is separate from health care service.

Finding calm and clarity when your mind won’t slow down is possible. I can guide the way. We have more influence over our thoughts than we realize. In our work, you’ll learn to approach your thinking more intentionally. As your thoughts change, you’ll start to notice changes in how you feel, the choices you make, and how you move through your life. I help clients slow things down, make sense of what’s been difficult, and address the patterns that keep them feeling stuck. This often includes working through anxiety, depression, and the impact of trauma and past experiences. I also support women navigating life transitions, helping them feel more grounded and steady through change. My approach is thoughtful and practical, combining insight with tools you can use in your day-to-day life.

Perhaps you have been feeling held back by unhelpful thoughts and feelings (worry, doubt, self-criticism) that get in the way or prevent you from living in the present moment. Or maybe you keep engaging in the same patterns of behavior over and over again, rather than moving toward the things you care about most. We partner with our clients to help them find new ways to navigate anxiety, OCD, low mood, and difficult life transitions. Our approach is focused on what is happening in the present while also honoring how your past experiences and identities shape where you are today. We use evidence-based treatments backed by science (including CBT, ACT, Exposure and Response Prevention) to help you reduce suffering and respond more flexibly to life’s many challenges. If you are exhausted by your obsessions, badgered by your inner critic, or trapped in anxious thought loops, you have come to the right place. To learn more, get in touch by phone or email to schedule a complimentary 15 minute phone consultation.
