When emotions stir within, causing anxiety, depression, or distress in relationships, life can feel overwhelming. I view these shifts as gifts, like an indicator light your higher Self is yearning for a personal growth spurt. These feelings can be an opportunity to free yourself from the experiences that hold you back from living your best life. My ideal client is ready to explore their internal world to make the changes needed to create a positive transformation. I am a body-based trauma-informed therapist with a master’s degree in dance/movement therapy. I use the creative process and visualization as a tool for exploration. The imagination can bypass the parts of the brain that keep us stuck in unwanted behaviors and can more easily access the parts that hold the answers. By engaging the mind and body with resources that calm the central nervous system, we have greater access to the pain filled memories impeding us from reaching our full potential and allow insight to surface. I integrate CRM (Comprehensive Resource Model), a neurobiological trauma model to help release traumatic events that may be locked into the body by using resources that can be used between sessions. After 20 years of working as a therapist, I took a deep dive into my own therapeutic process and wrote a book about the experience - a memoir to be published soon. My goal is to be your guide, a doula of sorts, to help birth the person you have always wanted to become. Call or email to see if we are a match for your personal growth journey. My availability fluctuates so please feel free to check in with me if available times do not meet your needs.

I believe each of us has our own unique strengths, needs, and personality. I have worked with a wide variety of people who present with a wide range of personal struggles (anxiety, depression, bipolar, ADHD, etc.). I have found that by being my true self, it allows others the space to do the same. I will incorporate various therapeutic techniques depending on your personal goals and comfort level. My goal is to empower you while fostering self-awareness, emotional growth, and positive change. 'The path to self-discovery is not a straight line. It's a zigzag." By Alicia Keys.

I specialize in working with individuals to overcome difficulties with anxiety, low self-esteem, maternal mental health (pre- and postpartum), women's issues, grief/loss, life transitions, and interpersonal relationships. I invite you to bring your old strengths into a new perspective, and to share in a conversation that is both challenging and supportive. At Perspectives Mental Health Counseling, PLLC, you are welcome. You may come to gain a viewpoint outside of your current network of friends, family, co-workers, teammates, and to take a look at your own perspective as well. By gaining new insight, you will find ways to make positive change in your life and cope with whatever it is you carry with you through the door. Together we can, through talk therapy, work towards discovering and helping you to become the healthiest you. I specialize in working with individuals who are coping with medical issues.

To be seen and known by others is an incredible feeling of connection but it means being authentic and vulnerable. Sadly, we live in a time with the illusion of connection while being more disconnected than ever. You may feel disconnected from others and even from yourself. Though you are a gift to this world, it is often blocked and unexpressed. This may leave you feeling alone and invisible. The truth is, you may be starving for deeper connection and that starvation looks like depression, anxiety, stress, and more. When you are living disconnected, you are abandoning yourself. Thankfully, you have a beautiful inner voice. I help you redefine your view of barriers (I call it protection), frustration around recurring struggles, failures, shame+fears through a lens of compassion, curiosity, and courage. My working style is non-judgmental, and I endeavor to bring curiosity, humor, empathy, patience, and respect to our relationship. I warmly invite you to reach out by phone or email through my website and schedule a free initial consultation to explore how we might work together to help you live a life of purpose and connection with self and others

Pre-Licensed Professional
Bainbridge, NY

Hello! My name is Abigayle Bennett, but you can call me Abi. I am in my second year of my Master’s of Social Work at Binghamton University and hold an Associate’s in Human Services and a Bachelor’s in Psychology with a minor in Education. I have been working in children’s and family services for the majority of my career, and hope to eventually open a Child and Family Development Center and offer an inclusive space for families to seek tools and resources to improve their family’s mental well-being. I specialize in areas such as anxiety, mood disorders, parenting and family issues, relationships, self-esteem, self-harm, lgbtq+ youth, and domestic/sexual abuse. I strive to create a laid-back, open, and approachable environment in our sessions. I understand that starting therapy can be daunting, but I aim to make our therapeutic relationship as comfortable and supportive as possible. My goal is to be someone you feel at ease talking to so that you can freely share and explore your thoughts and feelings. I know how intimidating it can be to bare your soul to a stranger, so I want to work together to build a strong therapeutic relationship so we can tackle your needs as a team. I firmly believe that mental health has to start from a sort of ground-up perspective. In order to control your feelings, emotions, and reactions, you have to understand them and be able to respond to them using tools that meet you where you’re at. I practice primarily using CBT, DBT, mindfulness, attachment theory, and family systems theory. In our sessions, we will use an eclectic mix of various therapeutic frameworks to best meet your needs. In session, this may look like guided meditations, processing past traumas, exploring family dynamics, and cognitive reprogramming techniques. By utilizing a mix of modalities, we can work together to find ways to best respond to the difficulties and struggles you may be facing, and hopefully overall improve your quality of life.

Are you carrying the weight of being a first-generation eldest hija while trying to find your own path? Te veo. Balancing school, family expectations, and your own needs can feel overwhelming. You may feel pressure to succeed, to make your family proud, and to hold everything together, while quietly feeling stretched or disconnected from yourself. In our work together, we create space to slow down and check in with what you’re feeling and needing. Therapy becomes a place to explore who you are beyond expectations, while gently tending to the parts of you that have learned to push through or put yourself last. My approach is trauma informed, relational, and culturally attuned, with attention to both your emotional experience and your body’s response to stress. We move at a pace that feels steady, supporting you in building self trust and a more grounded relationship with yourself. I also provide psychological evaluations for immigration cases, conducted with objectivity, care, and cultural awareness. I am a bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in New York, and a first-generation eldest daughter of Colombian parents. My work is shaped by both lived experience and over a decade of clinical practice, offering a space that honors the complexity of your story.
