Therapists for college students near New York University
Hi! I'm Lynn, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works with clients from various stages who are facing challenges. I work collaboratively with clients to help them feel empowered to overcome difficult challenges and increase resilience. Clients working with me will feel a supportive, non-judgmental, and compassionate atmosphere.
Are you seemingly okay on the outside, but uncomfortable and anxious underneath? Do relationships with family, friends, or romantic partners feel stressful? Perhaps you are struggling to figure out your path in college or after graduation? It’s really hard to navigate relationships and decisions for yourself now, for the first time! I believe college and your 20s are the most important time where you can shape your future by learning about yourself. Often, you grow up not really knowing you are and who you want to be, and feel lost when you try to figure this out. I’d love to support you as you navigate this time by really listening and understanding you, providing non-judgmental guidance and empathy, and asking you helpful questions. I focus on issues with life transitions (yes college and graduation), self esteem, anxiety, interpersonal conflict and communication, dating, perfectionism, break-ups, and stress. Common goals include reducing anxiety, finding a suitable partner, building connection, stronger communication, creating healthy boundaries, finding purpose/career, managing life transitions, and increasing coping skills and confidence. My clients don't fill empty spots! This is my passion and you are so important to me; I remember details and strategize between sessions ensuring you receive the best care in return for your commitment to therapy.
I believe in finding the "silver linings" when faced w/ challenges. We all go through highs & lows in life, but sometimes the lows can begin to feel overwhelming. My goal as a therapist is to help guide you through your challenges by offering a nonjudgmental space w/ gentle feedback & direction.

Dr. Oleg Turayev is a psychologist specializing in anxiety, trauma, family issues, and college and young adult mental health for over a decade. He works with anyone 16 and older, from people coping with significant mental illness to those experiencing typical stressors of daily life. I specialize in working with young adults dealing with anxiety, depression, and stress. Many are facing academic pressure, social challenges, or life transitions. I provide a supportive space to talk, build skills, and improve well-being. My goal is to help clients feel more grounded and in control of their emotional well-being. I believe meaningful change starts with a strong, trusting relationship. In our early sessions, we’ll focus on building that connection and exploring what works best for you. My approach is eclectic and flexible, drawing from various modalities to meet each client’s unique needs. I am passionate about this work because I believe in the resilience of young people — and I’ve seen how powerful therapy can be when clients feel safe, respected, and truly heard. Supporting people in their most vulnerable moments is an honor, and I deeply value the trust my clients place in me.
I have years of experience working with folks of all ages in various settings towards their mental health and life goals. With curiosity, humor, and compassion, I strive to create a space to explore the oftentimes messy worlds within and around us. I believe we all have an innate profound ability to heal ourselves that can be activated with the right support. I specialize in anxiety, depression, life transitions, establishing/maintaining routines, and supporting those with chronic health challenges primarily - though I have experience with a wide array of life conditions. While the work is often grounded in psychodynamic and CBT approaches, other healing modalities are incorporated as well. You can expect that goals, values, and identities, what makes us-us will be explored, and often guides the process. I welcome any questions you may have, and look forward to hearing from you.

I love supporting college students and have been doing so for the past 15 years. I spent much of that time providing therapy in New York City, before returning to my home town of Fairfield, CT to continue my practice. In addition to in person appointments, I continue to provide telehealth sessions for any students located in CT or NY. I also have experience with this age group in schools, medical and psychiatric hospital settings and in the classroom while teaching at the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College. I truly enjoy working with my clients and draw upon my own experience and their inherent strengths to achieve change in a welcoming and nonjudgmental environment.
I help people understand themselves, not just manage symptoms. If you're ready to look at patterns, relationships, and what keeps you stuck, this work is for you. One of my specialties is psychoanalytic dream interpretation: I've worked extensively with dreams in treatment and have seen how dreams foster insight, emotional depth, and lasting change.
When life gets difficult, therapy can help. The therapeutic relationship is an important part of your journey to greater well being, and together we work as a team to face and overcome your challenges, identify and work through the stuck places in your life, and support you in crafting the life you really want for yourself. I am a licensed psychologist with over a dozen years of experience working with a wide range of developmental, relational, identity and mental health concerns. I utilize evidence based practices such as CBT, and am committed to using a Person Centered, multicultural, and trauma informed approach. Everyone's story is unique and every person deserves an individualized approach to their care. Initially, I provide a comprehensive psychological assessment and together we will explore each client's goals for treatment. I want clients to feel heard and validated in a safe, non-judgmental space and learn how to overcome the hard things in their lives. Call

Many students I work with are navigating big changes, whether it’s adjusting to college life, managing anxiety or OCD, or trying to find balance in relationships and daily routines. You might feel stuck in cycles of overthinking, self-doubt, or worry about not having things “figured out.” In our work together, we’ll create a supportive space to better understand your story, identify what’s been keeping you stuck, and build tools that bring more clarity, confidence, and calm to your daily life. Starting therapy can feel intimidating, and that’s okay. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation so you can ask questions, share what you’re looking for, and get a sense of whether we’d be a good fit. When you’re ready, I’d be happy to connect and explore how I can best support you.
