PSYCHOTHERAPY SERVICES: Rebecca’s clinical focus is on helping adult female identified dancers develop healthy relationships with their bodies and food. She guides clients in reconnecting with their bodies, often using the process of “embodiment,” a multilayered awareness of your body and how you connect to or relate to the world around you. Through the holistic practices of mind- body awareness, Rebecca educates her clients on how their emotions may sometimes be reflected through physical symptoms, often called psychosomatic symptoms. Working with Rebecca, clients also receive guidance on eating in a self attuned way to manage disordered eating behaviors. She works from the Health at Every Size (HAES) perspective and helps clients understand the internal and external factors that contribute to disordered eating, body image issues and problems with self esteem. Dancers are always on display, whether taking recreational classes at the studio or at rehearsal and especially during performances. Outside of the dance world, there’s the everyday societal expectations of how our bodies should be. Rebecca is familiar with the unique challenges dancers face on and off stage. PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENT COACHING FOR PERFORMING ARTISTS: Contact Rebecca for more information. With her background in Applied Sports and Performance Psychology, Rebecca offers individual and group coaching sessions to adult dancers. Coaching sessions are available to help dancers of all levels achieve improved overall performance, using mental skills training. Coaching is separate from health care service.

I am a New York State licensed Psychotherapist experienced in working with a broad range of issues including depression, anxiety, loss and grief, LGBTQIA+ issues, family and relationship struggles, identity, complex life transitions, and trauma ranging from the personal to systemic. I am a graduate of Hunter College’s Silberman School of Social Work and completed training in working with Couples and Families through the Ackerman Institute for the Family and advanced post graduate training in Relational Therapy at the Stephen A. Mitchell Center for Relational Studies. I bring warmth, deep listening, honesty, cultural sensitivity and humility, and a spirit of collaboration, authenticity, and humor to my therapeutic work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I have worked extensively with adolescents and emergent adults and understand that these junctures typically involve a great deal of growth and change. This can in turn be exciting and wonderful, and also sometimes disorienting and overwhelming. I approach therapy as a collaborative exploration of an individual's lived experiences, the meanings they make out of these experiences, and the relationships they cultivate with self and others in the context of these experiences and meaning-making. In therapy together we slow these conscious and lesser conscious processes down to better understand what might be happening, where people may be stuck in self-limiting narratives or patterns, where resilience, joy, and strength can be recognized, and where growth and change are possible.

The mind is a powerful tool, incredibly powerful. We can think positive thoughts, we can think realistic thoughts and we can think negative thoughts. Some thoughts are fleeting and others forgotten. Some thoughts are rooted in our early impression of the world around us. We are committed to providing support with negative thought patterns and emotional dysregulation, providing individuals with the tools, knowledge, and the resources to overcome these challenges. Our team is committed to helping individuals achieve mental wellness and emotional stability. We utilize a strength-based, cognitive behavioral and person centered approach when working with individuals to address negative thought patterns, emotional instability, anxiety and depression.

Finding calm and clarity when your mind won’t slow down is possible. I can guide the way. We have more influence over our thoughts than we realize. In our work, you’ll learn to approach your thinking more intentionally. As your thoughts change, you’ll start to notice changes in how you feel, the choices you make, and how you move through your life. I help clients slow things down, make sense of what’s been difficult, and address the patterns that keep them feeling stuck. This often includes working through anxiety, depression, and the impact of trauma and past experiences. I also support women navigating life transitions, helping them feel more grounded and steady through change. My approach is thoughtful and practical, combining insight with tools you can use in your day-to-day life.

Do you find yourself feeling anxious in relationships? Have you ever wondered why you keep repeating old behaviors? Is your relationship to sex or substances becoming difficult to manage? Are you battling internal voices that say you aren’t good enough? Has life thrown you a curve ball that’s making day-to-day living increasingly difficult? My practice focuses on young adults dealing with relationship challenges, compulsive behaviors, issues of self worth, and major life transitions. Together we create a way for you to move through these issues. For some, that means a structured approach with homework and a focus on applying skills outside of session. For others, it could mean lots of space to be reflective and identify long standing patterns. And still with others it could mean working with visualization and the way the body holds emotional distress. Therapy is an invaluable tool for navigating the turbulence we encounter in society, at work, in our relationships, or when we are alone. It provides a space where we can better understand ourselves, and embrace our experience. A space where we can experiment with new thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

Our worlds on the inside and outside can be overwhelming, leaving us with intense emotion that is difficult to manage, understand and process. Perhaps you are left feeling worried, paralyzed, over-thinking decisions, or losing motivation? I work with patients to treat depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting challenges, as well as questions surrounding identity (racial, sexual, gender), and transitions through life-stages. I help patients face and process highly painful experiences, in an environment of safety that I strive to create and maintain throughout the therapeutic process. The care I provide seeks to acknowledge and build upon the strengths and resiliency of each individual, using a culturally-competent lens in exploring these strengths. My clinical experience and knowledge enhance my pragmatic therapeutic work -- offering an individualized approach to each patient. I would like to help you develop hope and positive curiosity about your inner life and the opportunities for growth and healing that lie before you. I look forward to the opportunity to guide you along this path!

Licensed Mental Health Counselor
New York, NY

Hi ! I am Samah, a South Asian therapist originally from India. I specialize in working with students, including international students, people of color, and immigrants who are navigating not just academics, but identity, belonging, and the pressure to succeed. As an immigrant myself, I understand how cultural expectations can affect us and manifest as beliefs, patterns, and behaviors that may not serve us; therefore, we will navigate these concerns together in a way that allows you to uphold your cultural values while building a strong sense of self. I understand what it’s like to begin this journey away from family, balancing the guilt of leaving loved ones behind while trying to build a new life. It can feel like you’re living between two worlds: holding onto your cultural identity while also trying to adapt, grow, and find your place in a new environment. This experience can bring up feelings of isolation, anxiety, and self-doubt, even when things seem to be going well on the outside. In our work together, I aim to create a space where you feel seen, understood, and supported as your full self. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, self-esteem, academic pressure, or questions around identity and family, we can explore these challenges at your pace and help you feel more grounded and confident in who you are becoming.

If you were looking for a sign to try therapy, consider this that sign. Life feels hard, and everyone and everything feels overwhelming. You just want to feel better but don't even know where to begin. You don't have to figure it all out on your own. So let's talk. Even better, let's collaborate. I have a relaxed style based on science but led by empathy and humor. I commonly help clients who are experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and life transitions, or even just a case of the "blahs." Our work together will be as unique as you are to pinpoint and address your personal goals. I commonly I pull from evidence-based treatments including cognitive and psychodynamic therapies geared to target unhelpful thoughts, build up your coping skills or work through past and current patterns. During our sessions, you can expect to feel safe, seen, and fully embraced- just as you are. I look forward to connecting with you to learn how we can enhance your well-being, alleviate the stress and pain you may be experiencing and find your joy again.

New York, NY

Hello! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in NY with over 7 years of experience in the field. I specialize in ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, and PTSD. I have worked with youth and adults in my community in both clinical and academic settings, and especially enjoy working with college students and faculty. I am a proud LGBTQIA+ ally, and I am committed to anti-racism and understanding the unique struggles at the intersections of race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, and mental health. I use a mix of CBT, DBT, positive psychology, and mindfulness techniques. My person-centered therapeutic style focuses on acceptance and relationship building. I am a calm and empathetic listener, and do my best to be positive and upbeat when appropriate. I work well with those who are seeking change and willing to explore their diagnoses and how their symptoms are impacting their life. This way, we can collaboratively develop a treatment plan, build new skills, and evaluate your progress together. In our first session, we’ll discuss your current symptoms, concerns, and history. This will help us develop an initial plan for treatment, which we’ll collaborate on moving forward. Helping others with their mental health is my life’s passion, and I encourage you to reach out if you think we might be a good fit. I am part of the Path referral network, which means that when you reach out, my team will get back to you quickly to schedule our first session. I am committed to making therapy affordable. Through Path, I am in-network for most commercial insurances, so you're only responsible for your co-pay!
