Life transitions can bring a mix of emotions - excitement, confusion, stress, and more. Between classes, relationships, identity shifts, and figuring out your future, it's a lot to take on. It is totally normal to experience all of the emotions at once, which can be difficult to understand and navigate. Opening up about what you are going through isn't always easy, but you don't have to do it alone. Whether you're looking for tools to manage stress or anxiety, make sense of tough emotions, or understand how your past is showing up in the present, therapy can help. Our work together will focus on what matters most to you. This is your space to be supported and heard.

My 25+ years of experience includes working with survivors of trauma and violence; intimate partner violence; depression; anxiety and panic; stress management; individuals with histories in foster care; infertility; and parenting- particularly single parenting. The foundation of my practice are trauma-informed and psychodynamic approaches, and I have pursued additional training in solution-focused techniques, hypnotherapy, mindfulness, meditation, and cognitive behavioral therapy. My work is holistic and integrative, considering the interplay of mind and body and selecting from a variety of modalities to best suit you in our work together.

I am a firm believer that not all therapeutic approaches fit all. CBT, Person-Centered Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing have shown to be beneficial throughout my experience as a therapist. With this increased insight, clients can challenge these maladaptive thoughts which can lead to improvements in behaviors and positive outcomes in their lives.

You may find yourself feeling soft spoken, timid, and meek- but secretly waiting to speak- you feel like you are tirelessly trying to keep pace in a world that does not align with your rhythm. If feelings of anxiety are consuming or camouflaging themselves as reoccurring & normal, I am an expert in supporting you in breaking out of your shell, and dismantling old narratives about anxiety, and ADHD. I support clients in exploring their pasts to inform their future, and take control of their narrative. I believe building a healthy connection with yourself is the springboard to living a more fulfilling life and can enhance your ability to form deeper relationships, and show up for yourselves and others in a more grounded way. I do not practice with a one-size fits all approach, and empower clients to take the lead in their experience. I service NY & CT residents. Our Mission Statement: An Innovative Approach to Therapy Here at Tompkins Community Counseling, we tailor to your needs and will work in the environment that is best for you. Our goal is to provide you with professional, client-led, goal-based counseling, while working in whatever setting is most comfortable for you— in the community, online, or in our office. We understand how difficult it can be to ask for help and discuss your life challenges, so we try to make the journey as comfortable as possible for you. Simply put, we achieve this by following your lead throughout the counseling process. We use a Client-Led Counseling model, finding strengths that you already have and building on them to reach resolutions. We follow the pace of our clients to help them achieve control over their lives, helping them make positive choices by offering them specific tools and practical strategies for change. We also practice a wide variety of treatment models and support you in choosing one that is a good fit for you. We will help you to define your long term goals, allowing our sessions to be driven by focused goals that will lead to a successful discharge.

You are the expert of your own experience and know best what supports you and what may no longer be serving you. In our work together, I will seek to highlight and validate how the social environment and systems have impacted your relationship with yourself and others, and to use the therapy space as an opportunity to dismantle hierarchies. To do this, I use an integrated, person-centered psychodynamic approach grounded in compassion. This includes using concepts from Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatics, mindfulness and analysis. I identify as queer and will bring a queer lens to our work together by asking how you have constructed meaning of your world, by recognizing your strengths and by supporting you in developing new insight. I am a Licensed Master of Social Work, an artist and an educator. I have experience working with people in creative fields, navigating their gender and sexual identities, anxiety, depression, life and career transitions and higher education.

Ecdysis (pronounced Ek-Duh-Sus), by definition, is the process that snakes and reptiles undergo when shedding their skin, and it is a metaphor for how I view the therapeutic process. I started Ecdysis Psychology with the goal of helping people navigate difficult or uncomfortable changes in order to discover the best versions of themselves. In my 15+ years of experience treating adults and adolescents in inpatient and outpatient settings, I have encountered individuals experiencing symptoms of depression, mania, anxiety, psychosis, and personality disorders as well as those struggling with addiction and sexual concerns, and I learned that what matters most in treatment is motivation. Anyone with a willingness to change can do so, regardless of the traumas or negative experiences of your past. Therapy is a tool to help guide you through difficult life situations, and my practice focuses on helping clients cope with stressful circumstances, such as grief, traumatic events, relationship difficulties, divorce, family conflict, fertility struggles, depression, low self-esteem, problems with assertive communication, or anxiety. Each person's treatment course is custom to their needs and is based upon the theoretical underpinnings of cognitive behavioral therapy, positive psychology, and mindfulness. I look forward to working with you and supporting you on your personal growth journey.

My approach is person-centered, DBT-oriented, and grounded in a trauma-informed, holistic, and culturally sensitive framework. I believe therapy should be collaborative and tailored to each individual’s unique needs and lived experiences. I place a strong emphasis on building practical, evidence-based skills—particularly DBT skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness—to help clients better manage emotions, navigate relationships, and cope with life’s challenges. My goal is to support clients in creating meaningful change while honoring where they are in the present moment.
