Therapists for college students near Boulder, CO
Charlie Health is a virtual behavioral health program for adolescents and young adults with moderate or severe mental health concerns or co-occurring substance use or eating disorders. Designed to meet the needs of those who require more than weekly therapy, our program combines curated group therapy, individual therapy, and family therapy into personalized treatment programs. We are helping to serve those who are in crisis, or have been historically underserved, by eliminating the most significant treatment barriers: geographical and financial access. We work with nearly all commercial insurance nationwide and have no waitlist, thereby helping people access quality, evidence-based care regardless of insurance, location, or other barriers.

As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with eight years of combined clinical experience, my work is rooted in one simple belief: that quality mental health care should be accessible to everyone, at every stage of life. Specializing in medication management across the lifespan, I bring both clinical expertise and a deeply personal commitment to the patients I serve. Growing up as a first-generation American raised by Spanish parents, I understand firsthand how language and cultural barriers can stand between people and the care they deserve. That lived experience fuels my passion for culturally competent mental health care, and my dedication to ensuring that you feel truly understood and supported throughout your treatment. Evidence-based practice guides everything I do, because you deserve care that is both thoughtful and grounded in what works. You can expect an environment that is open, kind, and collaborative from our first meeting. Using a conversational approach to assessment and treatment planning, my goal is always to meet you where you are, not where anyone else thinks you should be. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, you are seen as a whole person, with your own story, values, and needs shaping the direction of your care. Every treatment plan we build together reflects that holistic perspective. Finding the right path forward is a partnership, and your voice matters every step of the way. My path to becoming a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner began in an oncology office, where assisting patients receiving chemotherapy became far more than a clinical task. Sitting with people during some of their most vulnerable moments, offering conversation and a bit of warmth in the middle of something so difficult, revealed how profoundly meaningful human connection can be in a care setting. These experiences made it clear that mental health was where my work was meant to go. That early foundation continues to inform the care offered today, reminding me that presence, compassion, and genuine attention are just as important as clinical skill. When not at work, you'll likely find me out on the trails with my dogs, gliding across the ice figure skating, moving through a Pilates session, or discovering new foods while exploring somewhere new. These pursuits keep me grounded and curious, qualities that carry right back into the care I bring to every patient.
Hello! I’m a licensed psychologist who seeks to not just help manage symptoms, but to promote wellness. I am experienced in treating a range of mental health concerns including depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, attachment concerns, caretaker stress, chronic pain, binge eating, identity development, career exploration, and life transitions. Having worked with adult clients from a variety of backgrounds, I aim to incorporate a culturally sensitive lens throughout my practice. In sessions, my approach implements behavioral interventions alongside empowerment, exploration of self, and establishing meaning in life. My style is integrative and flexible. I primarily work from a psychodynamic and existential lens to connect past traumas to current patterns, address underlying needs, and foster hope. Through adding in ACT and DBT behavioral interventions, we can better manage symptoms and move towards goals. This multifaceted approach allows client-driven movement between self-exploration, emotional processing, and challenge.

My specialties include college-aged women and post-college twenty-somethings entering the workforce. Women and young adults face unique experiences and I'm passionate about helping navigate them. Family systems therapy and attachment theory are the pillars of my work. I also use a trauma informed approach, person-centered therapy, and CBT. I approach my work with curiosity, humility, and humor (sometimes we just need to laugh a little). My goal is to create a welcoming and nonjudgmental space where you feel safe and empowered to express your thoughts and feelings. Through a collaborative approach, I strive to create a compassionate and sincere therapeutic relationship.

I have worked in healthcare with the geriatric population, provided school based mental health to kids from grades kindergarten through 12th grade, substance abuse counseling to college aged kids, crisis intervention with the armed forces and a private practice providing therapeutic services to a wide range of people, families and couples that include helping folks who struggle with Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders and life transitions/changes.

My style is collaborative and genuine, and tailored to your unique needs, goals, and life experiences. This patient-centered, strength-based, and trauma-informed approach helps you feel safe, understood, and empowered. While therapy can be deep and transformative, I also value authenticity and humor as meaningful parts of the healing process. My work as a therapist is grounded in deep respect for each individual and the unique experiences that shape them. I’ve always believed in approaching therapy through a trauma-informed lens, honoring every person’s story and pace, allowing me to better create a welcoming, collaborative space where individuals feel safe, supported, and encouraged to show up as their true selves. Outside of therapy, I enjoy cooking and baking; getting outside to hike, run, or ski; and catching live music when I can. I also love spending time with friends and making space for the people and activities that help me feel connected, grounded, and recharged.

My approach to mental health counseling and high performance psychology does not focus simply on getting rid of challenges and difficulty, but rather aspires to honor what is good and right about you, and what makes each day worth living according to your beliefs, identities, values, and enriching relationships. Ultimately, I hope to help students like you move towards empowering the identities and values most important to you, building enriching relationships, and thriving in your chosen passions. I offer in person services in Lawrence, KS, and telehealth services across 42 states (https://psypact.gov/page/psypactmap). I have extensive experience and passion working with undergraduate and graduate students, including student-athletes, and students who identify as autistic and/or have been diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum. My aim is to provide a space that invites exploration of challenging yet vital places of growth in the service of what is most important to you in your life and performance space. In particular, I love supporting students' resilience to shame ("not enoughness"), self-criticism, pressure to be perfect, social and performance anxiety, body image concerns, grief and loss, panic, and trauma. At my core, I am inspired by feminist and multicultural approaches to healing that seek to interrupt systems of oppression that impact you. From that core, I use trauma-informed, evidence-based methods like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and self-compassion to support you in taking action towards what matters even in the presence of challenge. Finding a good fit is so vital to your counseling or sport psychology wants, and can be such an emotionally taxing journey. After an initial meeting, if you don't feel there is a great fit between us, I will work hard to connect you to people who may be a better fit for you. Let's make this process as stress-free and successful for your needs as we can.

In today’s fast-paced world, many people are expected to keep pushing forward while quietly carrying the emotional and physical burden of chronic illness. I am passionate about supporting individuals navigating chronic health conditions and the psychological challenges that often accompany them, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relational distress, and disenfranchised grief. I believe in a holistic path to healing; a path where the mind, body and spirit is embraced in the work that we will do together. I primarily use a combination of IFS, mindfulness, SE, hypnotherapy, CBT, ACT, and narrative therapies. Over the last 20 years I have worked extensively in a variety of healthcare settings including long-term care, hospice, and an acute care hospital setting. Recently, I worked as a medical social worker in the ICU during the COVID-19 pandemic where I supported patients and their loved ones in navigating the unknown. I also have experience in supporting those who suffer from more rare illnesses including autoimmune diseases, multiple chemical sensitivities, mast cell activation syndrome, chronic inflammatory response syndrome, and chronic Lyme. Working in a variety of healthcare settings has provided me with a unique lens into the many needs and adversities that individuals encounter in the US healthcare system. Through my experiences I have seen firsthand how connected our minds and bodies are, which led me to study interventions and techniques that can help manage a multitude of symptoms such as anxiety, pain, GI distress, and much more. I also have additional training in trauma-informed care and am now a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I work hard to find the right combination of therapeutic interventions to meet each individual's needs.
