Therapists for college students near Portland, OR
I primarily work with individuals struggling with compulsive behavior, including sex/porn addiction, codependency, internet/social media addiction, and problem spending/debting. Addiction is meant to make you feel less. It provides temporary numbing for lifelong pain. You feel trapped, depressed, angry, anxious, guilty, and afraid when you can't stop. Recovering from compulsive behavior, though not easy, is possible and has been accomplished many times. But it does require a complete change in beliefs and attitude, along with how to deal with life and its problems. Getting out of your head and taking action is the next indicated step. Listen to your mind and body - it's time to stop treating yourself so badly. I can help you learn to help yourself. You can become your own best advocate. All are welcome in my office, including those from BIPOC and LGBTQIA communities.

I utilize a person-centered, narrative approach to therapy which means we will focus on helping you explore your remarkable life experiences while building trust through a collaborative dialogue. My approach has been described as warm, validating and filled with curiosity. Throughout our work together, my goal is to foster a non-judgmental space to help you work towards relief and self-understanding. Some clients work with me to explore childhood experiences while others want to focus on more recent challenges. I support people with a wide variety of concerns and am particularly passionate about supporting individuals who are navigating relationship challenges (familial, romantic, platonic), exploring their sexual or gender identities, and traversing stressors related to parenting, school, work, or other obstacles. I am also trained to provide treatment for OCD and ADHD. I strive to work from an antiracist, LGBTQA+ affirming, and Health At Every Size-informed perspective. I have spent the last 6 years working with young adults in the community. Many are in a new place and dealing with transition in their lives. Living far away from home and having to "adult" can be overwhelming. Figuring out what you want to do after college can also be stressful. I would help to provide support during times. I am a playful therapist that has a genuine, person centered approach. I am not a blank faced therapist. I believe that the biggest intervention is the therapeutic alliance that is created between the therapist and client. Building trust, being approachable and connecting with my client's, these things are very important to me. I have lived experience of walking through this community as a Black queer women; this experience helps me connect and build rapport with BIPOC and queer folx. I have experience treating mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychosis and pre psychotic symptoms. I love supporting people with creating healthy relationships and boundaries, working on assertive and healthy communication. Please check out my website, there you can schedule a free 15 consultation. I would love to meet you to see if we would be a good fit!

We move through our days like houses filled with locked rooms, some we have never entered, some we have sealed off ourselves. We tell ourselves stories about why we cannot move forward, about the things that press against us—unseen but insistent. And yet, no one is truly alone. We are shaped by the hands and voices of others, by the echoes of what was said and unsaid. Change, is not a solitary act. My work is to sit with you in the quiet, to help you unlatch the doors, to sweep away the dust and debris of what holds you back. You do not need to become someone else—only to step fully into yourself. I also specialize in guiding those with ADHD through the labyrinth of daily life and helping people find clarity in their careers.

My practice model is all about helping clients explore themselves and their place in the world. As a licensed psychologist with experience working in a variety of care settings, I have expertise in treating depression, anxiety, lifestyle stress, trauma, addiction, and spiritual/existential distress. My therapy takes a nonjudgmental, compassion oriented focus. Through guiding my clients to approach themselves in more open and honest ways, I help them uncover their core needs so that they may lead lives that feel vibrant and fulfilling. I view health as a balance between mind, body, spirit, and environment. As such, my therapy style is holistic. I regularly guide my clients in mindfulness-based practices and offer an approach that blends Internal Family Systems therapy with somatic work and cognitive-behavioral exploration. In a culture where consciousness altering drug use is on the rise, I also work with clients to gain optimal wellness following challenging, disorienting, or invigorating psychedelic experiences. My passion for the Enneagram heavily informs my therapeutic lens, and I happily teach this tool to clients interested in evolving their understanding of self. I work to bolster my clients’ strengths while developing new skills and fresh insights. With sensitivity to the health impact of both personal and cultural forces, I strive to create a safe, welcoming space for my clients to explore all facets of their identities.
