Therapists for college students near Portland, OR
I work with college students, graduate students, and adults navigating life's many transitions. Before entering private practice, I worked in two university counseling centers, where my clinical work focused on supporting young and emerging adults as they managed academic stress, relationships, identity development, anxiety, depression, trauma, and major life decisions. I especially enjoy working with highly sensitive people (HSPs), adults with ADHD, and those exploring or adjusting to a late diagnosis of autism. I also have extensive experience supporting clients exploring questions related to gender and sexual identity. Many of my clients are thoughtful, self-aware people who feel overwhelmed, stuck in recurring emotional or relationship patterns, or exhausted from trying to meet others’ expectations while feeling disconnected from themselves. My style is warm, collaborative, and relational. I believe that a trusting therapeutic relationship provides the foundation for lasting change. Together, we'll explore the emotional and relational patterns that shape your life, helping you develop greater insight, emotional awareness, self-compassion, and new ways of responding to challenges. My work is grounded in psychodynamic and relational therapy, while also incorporating mindfulness- and compassion-based approaches, as well as somatic awareness and experiential interventions when they are helpful. I tailor therapy to each person, balancing reflection and insight with practical tools that help you feel more connected, resilient, and authentic. I practice from a feminist and anti-oppressive perspective and strive to create a culturally responsive, affirming space where all aspects of your identity and experience are welcomed with curiosity, respect, and compassion.
I provide individual therapy for adults on issues of anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts and/or feelings, self-criticism, grief, and relationship dissatisfaction. Our time together will be engaging, thought provoking, and supportive. I also understand counseling can be painful at times. I am committed to being present alongside you during these moments and to honor your exploration into where you have been, where you are, and where you would like to go. I can assist you in growing self-compassion, unhooking from painful thoughts and feelings, developing healthy coping skills, and supporting your pursuits of a meaningful life. We can approach our work together using a variety of frameworks and I will adapt to meet your needs and preferences. I have additional training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Compassion Focused Therapy. I aim to be queer/LGBTQIA+ affirming, culturally sensitive, anti-racist, trauma informed, and weight inclusive. I value taking a curious and non-judgmental stance with all of my clients. My approach is person-centered, relational, and collaborative.
My approach is warm, grounded, and deeply trauma-informed. I integrate EMDR with somatic and evidence-based talk therapies to support improved daily functioning and deeper, lasting healing. I specialize in working with medical trauma, chronic pain, women’s health, and grief. I also support clients navigating complex trauma, anxiety, depression, caregiver stress, and changes across the lifespan. I care deeply about creating a space where clients feel safe, respected, and truly understood. I believe therapy should be collaborative, meaningful and practical, and I work to find tools and approaches that genuinely support change in my client's day-to-day life.
I am deeply committed to supporting people of all identities, especially neurodiverse and LGBTQIA+ individuals, towards greater healing and empowerment. I will spend a considerable amount of time learning more about you, what your values are, and what you hope to achieve in therapy. My goal is to provide a safe enough space where we can build trust together and work towards your goals. I want to empower those who struggle with anxiety, depression, family dysfunction, relational challenges, managing daily stress, and trauma. As much as we may wish we could get rid of difficult emotions, I offer gentle exploration towards what it can feel like to begin to develop new relationships with unwanted feelings. I have an extensive background in mindfulness and offer clients a variety of mindfulness tools (that aren't too precious). Self compassion will be at the heart of our work. I believe that the most healing aspect of therapy is the connection between the therapist and the client. I offer warmth, patience, mediocre metaphors, and occasional humor. I feel honored and privileged to get to work with clients and it feels especially sweet when people begin to feel comfortable opening up. You can reach me by phone at 971-266-3010 or email me at alinakhodadian@introspectivecollective.org.
I practice strengths-based and evidence-based approaches psychotherapy with a focus on modalities including EMDR, CBT, and DBT. If you feel trapped, stuck, or carry heavy invisible responsibilities from your background, culture, tradition, I can assist you in discovering your potential and regaining control of your day-today life. I utilize my extensive multi-cultural and traditional background to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first step toward change.
Hi there, I'm Molly. I am passionate about creating a therapeutic relationship where there is trust, comfort, and authenticity in order for there to be feelings of safety as we dive into deeper work together. I like to bring humor into my practice and often find myself laughing with clients which can help lighten things up as we work on challenging topics. I am passionate about using evidence based practices and helping to stay on track with my client’s through keeping our objective in sight. I work hard to create a space that is non judgemental, where people can show up exactly as they are. I incorporate mindfulness and meditation skills to help people build a deep sense of self-awareness, self-trust, and groundedness. I am LGBTQIA2+ allied and committed to providing an inclusive, affirming space for all identities.
I offer weekly in-person and virtual therapy sessions at a sliding scale of $30-50. My office is in the Kerns neighborhood in Portland. I work with people navigating anxiety, depression, grief, and relationship challenges. You may feel stuck in patterns you’re ready to break free from but unsure how to start. Using the collaborative LifeMaps treatment plan, we will explore how your past has shaped your present and work to build self-awareness, uncover strengths, and foster change. My experience as a gay man raised in the South gives me a deeper understanding of how culture, identity, and family can shape who we become. My approach is an integration of psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral modalities, which means I will explore the way you experienced the world from birth until present in order to identify habits and behaviors that have become roadblocks to living in alignment with the person you want to be. By tracing present-day patterns back to their origins and understanding how they’ve developed over time, psychodynamic therapy helps people live more meaningful lives. Starting therapy can feel uncertain, especially when life feels heavy or confusing. My hope is that our work gives you space to slow down and look more closely at what’s happening beneath the surface. Together we’ll notice patterns that keep repeating and explore where they come from, so that new choices can begin to take shape. I see therapy as a collaboration built trust, curiosity, and honesty. My approach is warm and steady, with room for humor when it fits. I believe that change begins when you can speak freely, even about things that feel uncomfortable or hard to name. Over time, that process can bring relief, clarity, and a deeper sense of connection to yourself and others.

Through therapy, you can begin to make sense of your emotions, decrease your distress, and experience more fulfilling relationships. I utilize an integrative approach to psychotherapy, drawing from both cognitive behavioral and psychodynamic forms of treatment. I seek to help you better understand the root cause of your pain as well as discover practical strategies that will help to shift patterns of thinking and behavior that lie behind your difficulties. I view therapy as collaborative in nature and my hope is that we can partner together to help you make positive changes in your life.

Seeking support to navigate chaotic moments in life is not often easy and is also a wonderful gift to give your self. As a therapist, I use a dynamic blend of modalities to support you in a “body first” approach to healing. My style is collaborative and validating. With 26 years of experience, I’ve learned there are many ways to help clients. I welcome clients of all sorts, at any stage of therapy. I use an integrated approach and pull from numerous evidenced based therapeutic practices, based on your individual needs and goals. I can help you work through challenges related to difficult feelings, stress, depression, anxiety, challenging relationships and navigating important life transitions. I also specialize in helping those who have ADHD. The ADHD brain works overtime and can leave one feeling chronically exhausted, overwhelmed, scattered or misunderstood. While working together, we'll develop tools and strategies to better manage the challenges that ADHD can present, so that you can feel more confident and reach your full potential... in your relationships, your work and within yourself.
I aim to create an environment that is respectful, supportive, and collaborative. My approach to therapy is primarily based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). A core idea in ACT is that trying too hard to get rid of or control our emotions tends to backfire. Thus, instead of trying to get rid of unwanted thoughts, feelings, or emotions, I will help you learn to react differently to them so that you can keep your focus on living a meaningful and fulfilling life based on what’s important to you. This type of approach places your values at the center of therapy. Using your values and existing strengths as a foundation, we will work together to set meaningful goals to address your concerns –whether they relate to life transitions, depression, anxiety, body image, grief/loss, job or academic stress, or gender and sexuality. I have extensive training in working with transgender and gender diverse adults, youth, and families. Transgender clients seeking assessment or counseling services can expect a safe space, and respectful, non-pathologizing, collaborative care. If you are looking for someone to work with regarding gender identity and exploration, I can provide education, support, preparation, and, if indicated, reports/letters for surgery.
