Therapists for college students near New York, NY
Welcome! If you landed on my page, you are probably struggling in a relationship right now. I work with individuals and couples who value their relationships but feel like they keep missing each other and end up fighting or feeling disconnected. I also help couples who are unsure about whether they should stay together or break up gain more clarity.
Finding the right therapist can be a daunting task — developing a connection with someone is vulnerable and challenging, but it can be well worth it. I am committed to equipping and empowering my clients with the necessary tools to effectively understand and manage their mental health. In my work with teens and adults, my number one priority is creating a comfortable, person-centered, and safely challenging environment where you can move at your own pace and trust that you will be met with understanding, support, and respect. I provide a trauma-informed, empathetic space to explore difficult prior experiences, without rush or judgment. I am especially passionate about anxiety disorders, OCD, trauma, and queer and trans community work. As a proud member of the queer community myself, I understand the importance of LGBTQ+ visibility in the therapeutic space. While I am formally trained in ERP, ACT, and LGBTQ+ centered CBT, I am adaptable in my treatment style and I believe that supporting client needs and fostering the therapeutic relationship is key. To learn more about my practice and treatment style, please feel free to send me an email or schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation.

You feel disconnected from your body and, at the same time, feel like it’s all you think about. You question what you say, how your body looks, if you’re doing things “right,” and there are so many times when your mind feels like it’s on a hamster wheel that you can’t stop. You’re on edge all day and sometimes feel like you may be having a heart attack. You don’t feel like you fit in anywhere. You’ve been made fun of for many different parts of who you are. You’ve been called weird or misunderstood at work, in your family, and even in some of your dating relationships. You’ve struggled to find someone who feels like a good fit romantically, and you’re worried there’s something wrong with you. From the start, we want you to know that at Meadow Therapy, we believe you have inherent worth simply by being born. Throughout your life, you’ve learned tools for survival that may no longer feel like they serve you. We can help you shift those survival skills using Mind to Body Psychotherapy. Mind to Body Psychotherapy is a mix of body-based work, exploration of childhood hurts, the neuroscience of emotions/emotional regulation, and other concrete coping skills, that will help you tap into your inner resources. You already have many creative tools you’ve used for survival. One of our goals is to help you move out of survival mode into having a thriving and fulfilling life. We offer inclusive therapy for adolescents and adults, couples therapy, and group therapy. Using Mind-to-Body Psychotherapy, we can help quiet your harsh thoughts, soothe your racing heart, and calm your body. We specialize in working with trauma survivors, LGBTQIA+, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, Trans and Gender-Nonconforming, Self-Harming, Addicted, fat/larger-bodied, disabled, kink/BDSM, and polyamorous people. Samantha Dorazio is a passionate LMHC who received her Master's in Mental Health Counseling at Fordham University. I am a private practice therapist who works with adults of all ages, with particular experience supporting LGBTQIA+ clients and those who have experienced trauma. I believe that symptoms—whether anxiety, depression, or something harder to name—often have roots in our histories and relationships. In our work together, we’ll slow down and get curious about the patterns, feelings, and ways you’ve learned to cope that may no longer be serving you. Many of the students I work with are navigating academic pressure, identity questions, relationship stress, or major life transitions while trying to keep up with the demands of school and daily life. My hope is to offer a warm, attuned space where greater self-understanding can lead to real and lasting change.
I GREW UP IN THE IN-BETWEEN — moving back and forth between the US and China, I know first-hand what it is like to be faced with the unknown, the struggle of finding yourself in a new place, a new culture, a new stage of life, or a new identity. I FIND JOY in helping people find the pieces of themselves they can rely on and fall in love with through it all. My goal is to honor the beauty of your existence while teaching you the skills that can carry you through rougher times. The process of healing, learning who you are and what you need to care for yourself, is a challenging but rewarding one. IT TAKES COURAGE to confront and accept yourself completely, and I hope to provide a compassionate and safe space for you to explore, to grieve, to rage, or to find joy in everything that you've experienced. The fact that you have survived everything so far to be here now is more important than anything else. It is an honor for me to witness your courage and your strength. IT IS A PRIVILEGE to be a part of your journey. I admire you. You matter to me.
We aim to provide a warm and affirming space that focuses on individuals’ innate strengths and promotes self-acceptance. Through a collaborative and interactive approach, we support our clients by exploring their emotional health and engaging in the change process, to reach their fullest potential.

We are trying to reintegrate in our own way, and it is not easy. Taking good care of our emotional well being is a priority in my eyes. Are you motivated to change and grow? If you need the best person to help you reach your goals? I practice what I preach. “See me”and “hear me”. “Make it safe”. Often this is the beginning of what is missing in relationships. It's hard to ask for help. Being in a relationship is tricky. I appreciate people who are brave to say: "I need help with my life.", "I want to change my life.", & "I am unhappy.". I can help transform your hopes into action. You CAN change your life....if you have the will and desire to do so.

Therapy is a place to talk to someone outside of your every day life. It's a place to gain insight into what is going on within yourself, and to learn more about your thoughts, feelings and behaviors. You may begin therapy due to a serious life event, or simply to improve your mood, your lifestyle, or your relationships. I will ask questions and offer feedback to help you look at your problems differently, to make more sense of what's going on in your life, and to unravel difficult issues. We will work together as you decide what changes you may want to begin to make. In addition to working with individuals, I also work with couples. Some couples are early in their relationships and want to make sure they are on the right track. Others have been together longer and want less distressing and hurtful interactions, and instead want positive ways of communicating and connecting with each other. As we work in couples therapy, you will better understand what each person is contributing to the relationship, and you will both learn new skills so that you can better manage your differences, resolve conflicts, and build a stronger and more satisfying relationship. I also offer a 3 hour, premarital/early relationship course. Couples may choose to do this to assess their relationship strengths, and to get learn areas of their relationship that can use some focused work. This course is very helpful to help couples to prevent and change negative patterns from developing, and to learn some very important relationship building skills.
You may be overwhelmed by life’s pressures and need help figuring out what’s really going on. Or you may feel stuck in unhealthy patterns, addictions, interpersonal conflicts, or cycles of anger and frustration, and not know how to change. You may be depressed, carrying psychic anguish and low motivation, or unable to move on from past trauma. Or you may feel moments of intense shame, rejection sensitivity, or self-consciousness, and want to finally talk about it and try to heal and move on. If you want to get to the bottom of your emotional distress, interpersonal difficulties, or sense of stuckness, I would love to work with you. Many people come to me after feeling frustrated with therapy that stayed too surface-level, or where the therapist mostly listened without helping them understand their inner world. If you’re looking for therapy that goes deeper and offers reflection, feedback, and guidance, I invite you to reach out and schedule an initial consultation or first session. I approach each therapy as unique and individual, so that I can tailor my approach to you. I work with young adults and and teens navigating anxiety, shame, depression, identity questions, relationship conflict, compulsive/addictive behaviors, emotional numbness, and stuckness. I reply to all messages within one business day, and invite all inquiries.
