Therapists for college students near New York, NY
I love working with people to understand their own patterns of thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and relationships. All of these patterns have a root cause, and have served you in some way at some time—even if they are now proving to be unhelpful or harmful. In our work together, we will come to better understand the problems you face, develop a plan to make a change, and then put that plan into action. I specialize in working with teens and adults struggling with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, trauma, BPD, ADHD, patterns of difficulty regulating emotions, and pervasive isolation/interpersonal conflict. I have extensive experience in behavioral modalities such as CBT and DBT, as well psychodynamic and trauma-focused therapy. My approach balances acceptance and validation of the challenges that may bring you to treatment, with the simultaneous need for change. I will pull from various types of therapy, depending on what is most appropriate for you. Our work together will be collaborative and iterative, while also structured and purposeful. Regardless of your particular reasons for seeking a therapist at this time, I will always prioritize your personal goals, identity and values—some of which may very well evolve over time. I hope to connect soon if you feel we may be a good match!

My practice focuses on helping my clients identify and live according to their values. I meet my clients where they are at with empathy and acceptance, and together we explore their feelings, thoughts, strengths, and needs. I practice using a queer and trans-affirming, anti-racist, anti-ableist, trauma-informed lens. I tailor my sessions to meet the needs of each client, and I am also a certified Therapeutic Game Master who enjoys utilizing role play and games in therapy with adolescents and adults to practice skills for decision making, frustration tolerance, and managing conflict. I wear a mask at all in-person appointments and encourage my clients to wear one, as well.

Growing up can be challenging for adolescents- both in regards to mental health and in their relationships with peers. While mental health has become more prominent, there is often a hesitation that arises when it comes to discussing it. I offer a space, separate from their daily life and relationships, where adolescents can speak and feel heard by someone uninvolved and unbiased, but invested in being present and supportive of the adolescent. Adolescents are facing new obstacles both socially and within themselves, and while opening up can be hard, it is so important to do.

Life often brings us to a crossroads - where old perspectives, ways of feeling and being meet a desire for something new. Self-criticism, pain from past hurt, and fear of the future can create distance from a sense of aliveness, and hold us back from meaningful change. Over time, this may show up as relationship conflict, lack of purpose, feeling confused or numb, anxious, or depressed. Often these patterns are rooted in early relationships or unresolved experiences that shape how we view the world, attach and relate. I see therapy as a process of helping clients reconnect with themselves; rebuilding clarity, self-trust, and agency. Therapy with me is collaborative, authentic, and most importantly - rooted in the safety and trust of relationship. It is important to me to balance authenticity, warmth and humor, with honesty and directness. I offer traditional talk therapy and somatic practices that help you understand, process, and relate to your emotions - and whole self - in new ways.
Life is full of ups & downs, and it’s completely natural to find yourself questioning why things don’t feel as fulfilling or joyful as you think they should. Maybe you're wondering, “Why isn’t my life bringing me the happiness I expected?” or “Why is my relationship with (partner/friend/family member) so hard?” You might feel stuck - unsure of how to make things better as you navigate anxiety, depression, and other challenges. These feelings are more common than you might think, and you don’t have to face them on your own. My style is affirming, supportive, and insight-driven, with real-world skills to manage daily challenges. I specialize in working with young adults & college students. Together, we’ll explore practical tools to break through obstacles, rediscover hope, and empower you to create lasting change - no matter where you’re starting from. Remember, you don’t have to navigate these challenges alone. Each journey is unique, and I’d be honored to walk alongside you as you find your way forward. Feel free to reach out by phone or email to schedule a free phone consultation. I’m here to support you!
