Therapists for college students near New York University
As a therapist, I focus on creating a safe, welcoming space where you can be yourself and work through life’s challenges at your own pace. I have a background in supporting clients through a range of challenges, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, relationship difficulties, and trauma. When I’m not working, you’ll find me petting my cats (Avo & Loki), getting out in nature, being with loved ones, or getting lost in an art project. As a therapist, I tailor sessions to meet the unique needs of each client. In sessions, I focus on creating a good vibe while helping to explore strategies to help you cope or work toward your goals. I am part of a therapy practice called Resolute Mental Health, which has a dedicated team available to help with insurance and administrative support. We also offer psychiatry services at Resolute if a referral is needed! Please feel free to reach out if you would like to work together :)
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (in New York, New Jersey and Florida) with 15+ years of experience. I have a passion for working with young adults where I can provide a safe, confidential, comfortable, and a judgement free environment to work through their struggles. Together we can work collaboratively to help you grow. My goal is to build a warm, supportive and trusting relationship with my clients, which will allow them to express their needs and feel heard. I use a variety of modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy(CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), play therapy, behavior intervention plans, and more. I whole heartedly believe that anyone can make the change they wish to make in their life, and I am invested in helping you achieve your goals. Please contact me for a free phone consultation.
I'm a clinical psychologist (PhD 1994, U Michigan) with 30 years experience meeting with adolescents, adults from 18-90, and couples. My doctoral research focused on loss and the impact of parental divorce. During my 25 years here I've met with many Cornell students, undergrads and grads. I make use of various approaches (psychodynamic, family systems, cognitive-behavioral), depending on what makes most sense. Family difficulties, romantic relationships, stress of all sorts, procrastination, and being 'stuck' completing academic work are common situations for which I've provided help.
College and early adulthood can be exciting, but they can also feel overwhelming. You may be trying to balance classes, work, relationships, family expectations, and questions about your future, all while wondering if you’re the only one who doesn’t have everything figured out. Maybe you’re feeling anxious, burned out, lonely, stuck, or like you’re constantly overthinking. Many of the students I work with are thoughtful, motivated, and care deeply about doing well. From the outside, they often appear to have it together, but internally they’re struggling with stress, self-doubt, perfectionism, relationship challenges, or feeling disconnected from themselves. Therapy offers a place to slow down, make sense of what you’re experiencing, and move forward with greater confidence and clarity. My approach is warm, collaborative, and genuine. I won’t just sit back and nod, I ask thoughtful questions, help you recognize patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and support you in developing healthier ways of coping, communicating, and relating to yourself and others. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and challenged in ways that promote meaningful growth. I provide virtual therapy for college students and young adults throughout Florida, New Mexico, New York, and Texas, making it easier to fit therapy into your busy schedule. If you’re looking for a therapist who is compassionate, engaged, and committed to helping you navigate this stage of life, I’d be honored to work with you.

Many people enter therapy concerned that they will have to make dramatic changes in their lives to find relief. I believe that therapy is not dramatically changing who we are, but rather looking at how our perceptions of ourselves and others create unfulfilling experiences. I think my role as a therapist is to work with each individual to identify their strengths and enhance what is already working for them while examining the patterns that keep them from living life to its fullest. In my experience as a therapist I have helped many children, adolescents and adults overcome sever anxiety and depression and long-standing relationship issues. I also have expertise with families struggling with ongoing divorce and custody issues. I draw from several modalities of therapy, fitting the intervention with the needs of the individual.
My approach to therapy is warm, inviting, and challenging. I value compassion and "realness" and approach my work with clients from a place of curiosity and respect. I believe the quality of the therapeutic relationship is the foundation for meaningful work to occur and work with my clients to identify what feels most important to explore and address in therapy. Our work together may involve processing and organizing difficult life experiences or memories, preparing for major life transitions, or navigating challenges relating to depression/anxiety. I've often worked with clients in processing trauma and experiences of grief, relationship difficulties, and difficulties relating to identity (e.g., navigating minority related stress, LGBTQIA+, immigration concerns, etc.). Because safety and compatibility are necessary for effective therapy work, I typically connect with potential clients for a 15-20 minute phone consultation. This will allow us both to determine if we feel like we would be a good fit. Please feel free to reach out if you'd like to connect. Email tends to elicit a quicker response, however phone is fine, too! :)

Creative practices can often be a safer and more direct way of expressing, experiencing and understanding the most challenging emotions. I'm a creative arts therapist who has been working in New York for over fourteen years. I integrate my experience as a performer in Jazz, improvised and World music as well as my zen practice of over twenty years into a unique and effective approach to therapy. Using both verbal psychotherapy and creative art mediums in a safe and supportive environment I work to guide the therapeutic process towards achieving a client's unique goals. I specialize in working with clients with depression, anxiety, addiction, ASD, trauma and ADHD. I bring together psychodynamic depth and mindfulness — sometimes with music, sometimes without. My work is warm, exploratory, and grounded in who you actually are. No previous musical experience required. If you're curious whether this approach could work for you, I'd love to find out together. Reach out through my profile to schedule a consultation — no commitment required, just a conversation. New York clients: I offer telehealth across the state, so wherever you are, we can connect.

Hi! I work best with clients who are figuring out who they are, where they belong, and how to navigate stress, relationships, and big life changes. Many of the people I support come from multicultural, multiracial, Indigenous, LGBTQIA+, or immigrant backgrounds, and are looking for a space where all parts of their identity are understood and respected. You might be dealing with anxiety, family pressure, identity questions, or feeling overwhelmed balancing everything. Some clients I work with are also navigating the impact of immigration experiences, acculturation stress, or racial trauma, whether from personal experiences, family history, or systemic challenges. These experiences can shape how you see yourself and move through the world, and you do not have to process them alone. You do not have to have it all figured out. Therapy can be a place to slow down, make sense of your experiences, and find ways to move forward that feel right for you. In sessions, we will look at both the deeper parts of your story and practical tools to help you feel better day to day. I often use a mix of approaches, including exploring patterns from your past, building coping strategies, and working on how your thoughts and feelings connect. My style is warm, collaborative, and grounded in respect for your lived experience. I aim to create a space where you feel safe being fully yourself, no pressure, no judgment, just support as you grow, heal, and navigate this stage of life.
Our approach is one of compassion, providing a non-judgmental place to help you safely explore life's challenges and strengthen your connection to yourself; fostering lasting emotional well-being. We offer a wide range of specialties and interventions styles. Reach out and we will set you up with a therapist that best suites your needs and therapeutic style
