College and medical school can be some of the most exciting — and overwhelming — years of your life. I work with college students and medical trainees navigating stress, anxiety, burnout, perfectionism, relationship challenges, identity development, and life transitions. My approach is collaborative, grounded, and practical. I help students build emotional regulation skills, challenge unhelpful thinking patterns, and develop resilience without sacrificing their ambition. Whether you’re managing academic pressure, imposter syndrome, family expectations, or simply feeling stuck, therapy with me is a space where you don’t have to hold it all together. I especially enjoy supporting high-achieving students who feel like they “should” be fine but are quietly struggling. You don’t have to do this alone.
I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and a Certified Group Psychotherapist with over 12 years experience providing individual, group, and family therapy. I work with adolescents and adults of all ages who struggle with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, life transitions, relationships, decision-making, work/school achievement, and/or making behavioral changes. Drawing from multiple theoretical approaches (psychodynamic, behavioral, cognitive behavioral; relational, mindfulness, etc.), I provide the opportunity to identify, explore, and work through challenges and desires in a safe and supportive environment. In addition to working with adults and adolescents individually, I specialize in group, couples, and family therapy. I lead three mixed gender groups (Tues 5:30-6:45p, Th 12-1:15p, and Th 5:45-7p) and one men's group (Mon 6-7:15p) in my private practice. I also co-lead an observed group (Tues 10:15-11:30a) at the Brookline Center for Community Mental Health. Please visit my website (www.joelkrieg.com) to learn more about my groups and my practice. If you think I might be someone who could help you, feel free to call or email me. I'd be happy to speak with you.

Life is stressful and distracting enough without putting others' needs above your own. But that’s what we tend to do! As a result, we are left feeling drained. Relationships are complicated – whether it be with yourself or others. Throughout our lifetime relationships are often the most neglected and yet one of the most important. It is through the relationship with yourself and others that personal growth and change develops. This requires looking inward to discover what you need, want, and desire.
Since 1985, we have been committed to helping our clients and their families overcome and deal with substance abuse and dependency issues, including alcohol, drugs, prescription medications, smoking, and vaping. Our state of the art, holistic approach to treatment and long-term recovery includes addressing the medical, psychological, social, family and behavioral factors that influence and perpetuate these complex and chronic health conditions. We believe the most successful treatment strategies are based on the needs of each individual. As every story is different, so is each path to recovery and wellness. We help our clients map out their own unique strategy, and guide them along the way.
You have the power to make positive changes in order to live a happier, more fulfilling life. You may be thinking about improving relationships, coping more effectively with daily stress, or becoming more successful academically or in a career. Unfortunately, sometimes stress, anxiety, & depression make it difficult to make the changes you truly want. I aim to empower my clients so that they discover (or re-discover) the inner-strength needed to believe in themselves, learn new coping strategies, & achieve their goals. I utilize a cognitive-behavioral & client-centered approach to help young adults improve socially, emotionally, & academically. I create a motivational, non-judgmental space where clients can practice mindfulness & relaxation strategies. I teach my clients to replace unhelpful thinking patterns & behaviors with productive ones. As a licensed psychologist & certified school psychologist, I specialize in the assessment & treatment of children, adolescents, and adults with learning disabilities, anxiety, depression, behavioral disorders, & autism. I teach strategies to reduce test anxiety & improve study skills.

Clinical specialist: trauma (childhood sexual abuse and cult abuse) and Cluster B personality disorders (including narcissistic abuse). You look high-functioning on the outside—but your relationships, emotions, or sense of self may tell a different story. Sound familiar? You may be stuck in painful relationship patterns, drawn to emotionally unavailable or narcissistic partners, struggling with identity instability, emotional overwhelm, chronic emptiness, or the lasting effects of trauma. Integrating EMDR, somatic therapy, parts work, and depth psychology approaches, I help patients move beyond insight alone to create meaningful, lasting change. This work is especially well-suited for individuals who are ready to understand themselves more deeply, heal long-standing patterns, and move beyond survival mode—not just manage symptoms.
Milo's Mission, owned and operated by Lillian Dugan, LCSW, was founded to offer therapeutic services in diverse settings, transcending traditional office boundaries. Our aim is to empower clients with essential skills, foster self-awareness, and instill hope and healing amidst life's most challenging moments.

I have a virtual private practice although I do see clients in person some Saturday mornings. Based in cognitive behavioral therapy, several years ago I also began working with energy and infuse EFT Tapping into sessions. EFT Tapping for College Students: Feel calmer, think clearer, and stay grounded—one tap at a time. College life can be exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming. Between deadlines, exams, social pressure, and figuring out your future, stress can build up fast. EFT Tapping (Emotional Freedom Techniques) is a simple, effective tool that helps reduce anxiety, ease emotional tension, and bring your mind back to a calmer state—anytime, anywhere. What Is EFT Tapping? EFT is a gentle method that combines light tapping on specific acupressure points with mindful attention to your thoughts and feelings. It’s easy to learn, takes only a few minutes, and can be done discreetly—even in a dorm room, study hall, or before a big exam. How EFT Can Help You Students use tapping to: Reduce stress before exams or presentations Ease feelings of anxiety, overwhelm, or sadness Improve focus and emotional balance Build confidence during demanding times Release tension after a tough day Why It Works Tapping helps calm the body’s stress response, allowing you to shift from “fight-or-flight” mode back into a more relaxed, grounded state. Many students find that even a short session helps them feel lighter, clearer, and more in control. You don’t have to push through stress alone. EFT tapping is a practical, empowering tool you can carry with you through every semester. Whether you’re dealing with academic pressure or navigating emotional ups and downs, tapping can help you reconnect with yourself—and move forward with more ease.
Welcome, glad you're here! Thank you for taking the time to visit my profile. Creating a trusting environment for you is paramount. I am passionate about helping people feel safe, validated, and heard. This is a collaborative experience where we'll work together to examine relationships and communication, increase self-compassion and emotional regulation, and develop insights into your beliefs and behaviors. We can also discuss how nutrition and gut health play an integral, fundamental role in achieving comprehensive wellness. I want to help you feel empowered, live your most satisfying life, and be the best version of yourself. I believe such comprehensive wellness requires a holistic approach that includes exploring our emotional, physical, and energetic selves so we may better appreciate the interdependence of our internal systems. Since therapy is a unique, interactive process, I use several approaches including Psychodynamic, Polyvagal Informed Therapy, IFS (Internal Family Systems), and life experiences to deepen the work. When we have understanding, compassion, and context, we begin to release negative feelings and can start to forge ahead creating different pathways and skills to handle life. After shedding light on what brings us shame, it loses its hold over us. As Brene Brown offers, “when we deny the story, it defines us. When we own the story we can write a brave new ending.” While there are uncomfortable feelings that arise in therapy, there is also laughter, connection, insight, compassion, and relief. In addition to discussing how you want to improve your life, we also talk about what is going well for you and what positive things you are doing that help you have meaningful relationships and make successful decisions. Most often the therapeutic relationship is the vehicle through which deep healing and lasting change occur. I invite you to notice, honor, and “welcome all of your parts” with compassionate curiosity. Together, we look at the past to inform the present and work towards a brighter future. .
