Therapists for college students near 10003
Hello! My name is Jessica and I am a psychotherapist here to help you learn more about yourself and live a more fulfilling life. I work primarily with young adults, adults, however, I also have experience with children and teenagers. I specialize in anxiety and depression, as well as trauma. My approach to therapy is helping my clients learn more about themselves and empowering them to make changes that will meet their needs. My clients can expect to feel more self-aware and at peace with themselves. They can also expect to have a greater understanding of their emotions and triggers.
As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at HOClinical, I work best with students who are high-achieving, driven, and carrying more than they let people see. Many of the students I support are balancing academics, work, family expectations, and relationships — while quietly dealing with anxiety, low mood, burnout, ADHD, sleep problems, or feeling overwhelmed. Some are struggling to focus. Others feel stuck, unmotivated, or not like themselves anymore. Many say, “I should be able to handle this,” but feel exhausted trying. If you’re a student who wants practical tools, clear guidance, and a provider who truly listens without judgment, we’re likely a good fit. I offer a supportive, down-to-earth approach that combines thoughtful medication management (when appropriate) with real strategies you can use right away to feel better, think clearly, and perform at your best. You don’t have to wait until you’re in crisis to get support. If you’re ready to feel more balanced, focused, and in control again, HOClinical is here to help.
I work with college students navigating life transitions, loss, and the question of who they are and what comes next, often carrying patterns, unspoken expectations, or a sense of self shaped by experiences they didn't choose. As a bilingual, native Spanish-speaking therapist, I understand how nuanced identity can be and how exhausting it is when that isn't fully seen or honored. My specialty is helping young adult clients reclaim a sense of self during stages of life where identity and agency are often overlooked. I believe in a body-first, present-focused approach to treat your symptoms, prioritizing stabilization while trusting that lasting change comes from a deeper understanding of our histories, relationships, internal worlds, and motivations.
Do people tell you that you worry too much? That you should try to "be positive" or "stop overthinking everything all the time"? Do you ever wonder how other people manage to not care as much as you do about larger social issues and big questions? Does this ever make you feel anxious or overwhelmed? You are not alone. Together we can help find solutions, improve your sense of self and your relationships, provide safety and warmth, and start to create meaning and order in the chaos of our world. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, transitions, relationship problems, and work difficulties. My approach is holistic, honoring the mind-body connection and individual strengths. I work best with clients who have a natural curiosity about themselves and others. My style is warm, honest and nonjudgmental, and my practice draws from psychodynamic psychotherapy, mindfulness, EMDR, internal family systems, and attachment-based neuroscience.
Feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from yourself or your relationships? You’re not alone. Between chronic stress, systemic inequities, and the emotional labor of simply getting through the day, it can be hard to know where to begin. If you’re here, something in you is ready for change. I’m a Black male therapist in NYC providing trauma-informed online therapy to adults across New York State. I work with individuals who are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, racial and cultural identity concerns, relationship challenges, and the emotional impact of discrimination and marginalization. Many of my clients are Black men, people of color, immigrants, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and young adults seeking care that feels affirming, honest, and grounded. My approach is culturally responsive, collaborative, and relational. Together, we explore patterns shaped by past experiences while also building practical tools to support emotional resilience, self-trust, and meaningful change in the present. Therapy with me is a space where you do not need to code-switch, shrink, or perform. You get to show up as you are. I have worked with many young adults who are developing a secure sense of who they are and who they want to become. This stage of life has become even more difficult as our world is evolving at a greater rate and the choices so much more complicated.
It can often feel daunting and challenging to ask others for help; however, I am glad you have ended up on my page and are looking for support at this point in your life. My hope as your future therapist is to help you emerge into the best version of yourself by helping you overcome some of the internal barriers that may be impacting how you perceive yourself, others, and the world. As a therapist, I like to approach my work with clients in a collaborative, exploratory, & conversational manner. I will also remain attuned to your unique experiences and intersecting identities (e.g., race, gender, sexuality) throughout our work. I have worked with clients on a wide breadth of concerns, including (but not limited to): anxiety, depression, career concerns, relationship concerns, family of origin concerns, identity exploration/development, & interpersonal concerns. I have experience working with undergraduate & graduate students, adults, and other mental health providers. **I am in-network with Aetna (NY, MD, & VA) and Anthem (NY).** I am an out-of-network provider for all other insurances. If you have out-of-network benefits, your insurance often will cover a large percentage of the session fee. I can provide a superbill for your sessions, which you can then submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Finding a therapist with whom you feel comfortable and connected is key. Thus, I offer a complimentary phone consultation to help determine whether we might be a good match. If my approach resonates with you, please reach out. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
I work with individuals, couples, and families, am certified as an Emotionally Focused Couples therapist and as a sex therapist, and have experience treating a variety of problems including anxiety, depression, relationship problems, sexual issues, and problems with academic and job performance and with career advancement.
I'm so glad you've started this journey to improve your mental wellbeing. I know how difficult beginnings can be—I’ve worked with a number of first-time and returning therapy clients from backgrounds as diverse as New York City itself. I particularly enjoy working with LGBTQIA+ clients and people with disabilities and neurodivergences. I do my best to honor your cultural experience as we tackle some of life’s biggest challenges together: depression and anxiety, trauma and grief, chronic illness and medical issues, relationship difficulties and life transitions, and problematic drug use or other behaviors that may no longer be serving you. My own career began in worker organizing, then moved into community social work and social policy research. I have a deep appreciation for how relationships and social realities impact mental health and prioritize a relational and social change-oriented approach. Disability justice, racial justice, and gender justice are core tenets of my practice. My work is also influenced by my own experiences as a therapy client: I strive to be as transparent as possible about what we’re doing and why, so you can be a full partner on the journey and never feel left in the dark. Above all, I am person-centered: I start by learning who you are as an individual, your strengths and challenges, and then figure out which clinical approaches can work best for you. I often draw from Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and am pursuing further training in these modalities. I very much look forward to meeting you and taking this journey together!

I am an Asian American therapist with over 10 years of experience working with undergraduate and graduate students, traditional and non-traditional. My aim as a therapist is to offer my clients a space where they can take the time from their otherwise hectic schedules to pause and be curious about their feelings, behaviors, and reactions. Often we can feel like we are moving from one task to another and before long, we lose touch with why we started on the path we are on in the first place. In therapy, one can reconnect with the parts of themselves needed to feel balanced and thrive. I also strongly believe that the relationship between therapist and client is key for one to be able to explore, reflect, and ultimately heal. As such, I prioritize in creating a safe, supportive space where we may work together to better understand your unique experiences.
In my practice, I partner with my client to discover how to ride the wave of life. With a person-centered approach, emphasizing unconditional positive regard, I strive to build an empathic environment which begins with the belief that all human beings have an innate need and right to express themselves. I specialize in anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, relationship and social skills. I offer a combination of traditional talk therapy with an emphasis on mindfulness and body awareness, with creative exploration through an array of artistic modalities. Techniques are tailored to each client’s comfortability and needs. Healing and change are often uncomfortable, but necessary for a joyful life. I look forward to being your advocate on this journey where you can expect to be seen and heard. Reach out for a free 15 minute phone consultation, so we can discover if this is a good fit for your healing.
I support individuals to navigate through stressors and life transitions. I help individuals to enhance communication skills to foster empowerment while strengthening confidence in their ability to create positive change. My goal is to support you to empower yourself to make informed decisions that align with your values and desired outcomes. I utilize Cognitive-Behavioral, Solution Focused and Strengths Based approaches to remain action oriented, collaboratively working towards your goals. I support clients with developing awareness and viewing the big picture. For me therapy is the work that you do outside of the session time. The mindful & intentional efforts you make to reflect & apply new skills as well as new perspectives to your day-to-day experience; that's where the change will really take place. The work I do with my clients is often centered around Self-Love; being able to nurture acceptance of your true self is often the key to alleviating a vast number of concerns and challenges. I feel passionate about supporting individuals & couples to re-define their boundaries & take ownership of their identity. Collaboration is the key to success!
