My story starts with losing a delivery job with UPS in my early 20s because I ran over two cones during training. I needed a new direction and found my passion for helping people. I am grateful I ran over those two cones because it changed my career. Now, I have 15 years of experience as a licensed mental health professional and started Cuda Counseling (CC), where I work with an amazing team. We help individuals succeed by dialing down their inner critic and creating an inner ally. I understand that a strong therapeutic relationship is the foundation of effective counseling. That's why I strive to create a warm and welcoming environment where you can freely discuss your challenges and wins. My action-oriented approach is designed to help you identify achievable measures of success, empowering you to realize your full potential. Don't hesitate to reach out if you're ready to experience inner freedom by identifying and overcoming challenging thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. Let's connect and start your journey towards more joy, better relationships, and peace. Remember, the first step is often the hardest and most rewarding.
Are you carrying the weight of being a first-generation eldest hija while trying to find your own path? Te veo. Balancing school, family expectations, and your own needs can feel overwhelming. You may feel pressure to succeed, to make your family proud, and to hold everything together, while quietly feeling stretched or disconnected from yourself. In our work together, we create space to slow down and check in with what you’re feeling and needing. Therapy becomes a place to explore who you are beyond expectations, while gently tending to the parts of you that have learned to push through or put yourself last. My approach is trauma informed, relational, and culturally attuned, with attention to both your emotional experience and your body’s response to stress. We move at a pace that feels steady, supporting you in building self trust and a more grounded relationship with yourself. I also provide psychological evaluations for immigration cases, conducted with objectivity, care, and cultural awareness. I am a bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in New York, and a first-generation eldest daughter of Colombian parents. My work is shaped by both lived experience and over a decade of clinical practice, offering a space that honors the complexity of your story.
People often come to a therapist because they want to talk about being anxious, being lonely, feeling depressed, having difficulty in relationships, or having a hard time taking care of themselves and others. I aim to help people to reduce symptoms (e.g., anxiety) and, more generally, to engage in personal growth and to foster a more connected, meaningful life. I will work with you to help you cope more effectively with life stressors; in doing so, I focus on your values, strengths, and potential. I have specialized training in working with individuals with chronic illness and/or eating and weight-related problems, including adolescents, college students, and adults. I completed my clinical training at Yale University and at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. I am currently a Lecturer at Princeton University and the Supervising Psychologist at the Princeton Center for Eating Disorders. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have all been challenged in our relationships, our work, our empathy, and our resilience. I aim to help others navigate associated feelings of loneliness, worry, anger, and sadness, and I work to help people adapt to changing and uncertain times. My practice is telehealth-only; I am able to see patients in RI, CT, NY, FL, and NJ.
I am doing Tele-health sessions at this time. If you are struggling with anxiety, depression, mood, trauma, or sexual orientation, and you are ready to make a change in your life, I would be glad to hear from you. As a therapist, I work hard to create a safe, non-judgmental place for people to honestly examine their problems and develop the skills and behaviors that help them move forward with their lives. My approach is one of respect and warmth, and attention to the dignity of every person. Many of my clients have gone through traumatic or disorienting experiences, and struggle with depression, anxiety, or other debilitating emotional problems. Too often, we feel alone; and that our voices are not heard. I am here to guide you on your journey. You are not alone.
Hi, I’m Courtney! I provide talk therapy for individuals, families, and couples experiencing difficulties in their daily life. My specialities include college adjustment, anxiety, depression, substance use disorder, trauma, and women’s issues. I utilize person-centered, trauma-informed, and mindfulness-based practices. I also have a certification in dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). In session, we will work together to alleviate difficult feelings. I believe that we are all the experts in our own lives, and that it’s helpful to process our experiences in order to get to know ourselves on a deeper level. My approach to counseling starts with building a safe environment to help you feel more empowered and capable of change. I know finding the right therapist can be a difficult process, and I’d be happy to answer any questions you might have as you start this courageous journey. I look forward to hearing from you!
Life can have its challenging moments, especially during this time of uncertainty and quick changes. Throughout our life we develop methods of coping that, at one time, perhaps helped us to survive, but now prevent us from ultimately thriving. This can manifest in our relationship patterns and our mood which can cause disruption in work, love, family, friendships and a healthy identity. I am here to help support you through these changes as well find new ways to create balance and better manage the stressors influencing your daily life. Whether you are struggling with depression, anxiety, life changes, or processing this past year, I am here to listen. While I am licensed as an art psychotherapist, creating art during session is not required.

My practice is a small, specialty practice which serves women who are coping with the impact of trauma, painful life events, and adjusting to various transitions. I am trained in an evidenced-based therapy called EMDR, which is very effective for the treatment of trauma. I use EMDR therapy within an individualized approach, to assist my clients in moving forward from painful events. I also often assist my clients in strengthening their ability to be mindful, especially as a means of effectively regulating emotion. I worked as a therapist in a college counseling center for 6 years and deeply enjoy working with students. Please feel free to get in touch to discuss your therapy goals.
I am person-centered. I work collaboratively with clients, providing individualized care customized to address your needs and concerns. It is my belief that the client is the expert of their own lives, and I am along on the journey to provide the therapeutic support needed. I prefer to use trauma-informed, psychodynamic, and behavioral approaches to assist with achieving your goals.
