Therapists for college students near 27705
Hi welcome! My name is Angelica (like from the Rugrats if you are part of that era). As a therapist i encourage my clients to understand “Change is part of the process”. Which is process of therapy... My goal as a clinician is to always provide a safe place full of laughter, insight, and most of all healing and understanding. "If you do the work, then therapy will work" is the mantra I tell the individuals I work with. If you are ready to take that next step I look forward to collaborating with you on your self healing journey. Taking care of yourself is the best thing you can do for YOURSELF. I like to encourage the individuals I work with, is to recognize the fact that they have made a conscious decision to allow themselves to grow and heal. My experience has been working with individuals who deal with anxiety, depression and adjusting to life transitions. My intention is to meet individuals exactly where they are at in life. If it is your goal is to gain insight into your own behaviors, healing from past trauma, elevate your mindset, and to find your purpose here on this earth. I am here to help you on that journey.
Life was supposed to get easier after high school, after college, after landing your dream job... but something still feels missing. Despite feeling like you have things 'figured out', you struggle to settle in and find balance. I specialize in working with anxiety, perfectionism and trauma. Some of the techniques I use when working with clients include EMDR, ERP, and sandray. Curiosity and compassion are the basis to my counseling approach. I know that reaching out for counseling for yourself can be a vulnerable process. If you’ve worked hard to figure it out on your own or are feeling like you’ve tried it all, it’s time to take a creative approach together. In our sessions, we will work together at your pace to understand the layers of your experience. I hope to help you find self-compassion, new perspectives, and healing

As social beings, people need the contact and acceptance of other people. It is not uncommon for people to experience things that disrupt or unravel their lives, and they feel they have no one to turn to who understands or accepts them. Whether this experience is anxiety, depression, stress, life changes, or trauma, my passion is to help individuals find healthy ways of coping and processing the events in their lives. As well as helping people connect with others in more meaningful ways. As everyone is different, I feel there is no single therapeutic approach that works for everyone. Because of this, I have sought training in multiple therapeutic modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). My educational background includes an M.Ed. in Mental Health Counseling from Florida Atlantic University. My Clinical internship was spent in a substance abuse/mental health facility in South Florida, where I worked with military and veteran clients. Before my degree, I enlisted in the United States Airforce and was trained as a Medical Technician/EMT.
Sometimes this world is not the easiest place to live as we do not have control over every circumstance. We do, however, have control over how we respond to life situations we encounter. As humans, controlling our behaviors, our thoughts, our feelings can be a struggle at times. Therapy is a safe place to process, to learn, to grow so that we can react more effectively to life circumstances and to gain more control. College students are about adjusting into adulthood, finding independence, and developing a sense of self and directions. This is the time to utilize therapy to assist in the development of who you want to become. Trauma, mood disorders, relationship problems, anxiety, are many areas that college students suffer from due to past experiences or experiences encountered in college. Take the time to resolve and manage your mental health so that you can be the best version of you!
