Welcome! Thank you for being here. I'm so excited to get to know you and your nervous system. As a trauma and somatic therapist, I help women process unresolved trauma through a Somatic Experiencing framework while also helping them increase self-esteem, self-confidence, set healthy boundaries and ultimately live an intentional life outside of survival mode. I work with women experiencing anxiety, dissociation, trauma flashbacks/memories and psychosomatic symptoms. Psychosomatic symptoms include, muscle tension, burning sensations, non-epileptic seizures, heart palpitations, tightness in the throat, tingling, IBS, migraines, etc. As a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, I work with your nervous system to help create safety in your body, increase the capacity for you to be with uncomfortable emotions/sensations, and discharge stored traumatic energy so that your nervous system can return to a more balanced state. If you're ready to connect with your body, somatic therapy is for you. I offer ongoing individual therapy sessions as well as DROP-IN sessions. Drop-in sessions are the perfect way to try out Somatic Experiencing without committing to ongoing therapy. To book your drop-in session, visit my website and book online. I'm looking forward to connecting with you soon! :)

Do you ever find yourself thinking “How did I get here, and how do I escape this doom loop?" If you see a pattern of feeling overwhelmed, unseen, or misunderstood, you’re not alone. Maybe you’ve forgotten what it feels like to not be exhausted or in survival mode? Healing and peace are within reach, and I can help you find them. Patients say I’ve empowered them to see themselves in a new light, uncovering their strengths and potential. I focus on practical, personalized strategies for meaningful change while doing the "root work" to address underlying issues. Whether it's coping mechanisms or trauma roots, we’ll tackle it together. I specialize in helping people find clarity, control, and lasting peace in life. Sessions with me provide a safe and supportive place to explore, validate, and heal. Whether it's ADHD, trauma, family or relationship issues that brought you here or even all of the above and more, I can guide, support, and show up for you on your journey to the life you deserve. I know managing everything alone can feel overwhelming and that change and healing often seem impossible. But I also know they are within your reach. "Hope" might feel like a scary investment, but it’s one that promises lifetime returns when you commit to the journey. Take the first step and reach out; together, we’ll do the rest.

Pre-Licensed Professional
Lincoln, RI

Hi there! My name is Emersyn (they/them). I am a white, queer, nonbinary, neurodivergent human who is committed to lifelong learning and presently engaged in their own healing. I love working with other LGBTQIA2S+ folks around identity exploration, relationships, and feelings of erasure or invalidation within the community. I also enjoy working with neurodivergent individuals to identify strengths, needs, and ways to implement accommodations. I work with adults ages 18+ and children ages 6-10. I believe that children, like adults, have rich and dynamic inner worlds, behaviors, and concerns that deserve to be held with sincerity and curiosity. Previously, I have worked with adults with serious mental illness in a group home setting, as well as children with trauma histories in a special education setting. My therapy style is collaborative, systems-focused, person-centered, and casual. I am interested to learn about the familial, societal, and historical contexts that have shaped your/your child’s life. I trust you/your child to take the lead, and I will offer guidance along the way. Past clients have appreciated my genuineness, curiosity, and receptivity to feedback. I offer virtual and in-person sessions for adults and in-person sessions only for children, including outdoor/walk-and-talk (pending weather). Please note that I will be masking for in-person sessions due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. I will provide extra masks should you choose to wear one.

My intention as a psychotherapist is to create a safe and supportive environment in which people can learn and share more about themselves, and in so doing, ease their suffering and create possibilities of positive movement and change in their lives. I am grounded in a relational and psychodynamic approach. This means that I am attuned to building a respectful interactive relationship, and that I bring an awareness of the deep impact of the past on people's present lives. My practice is diverse, with a specialization in trauma focused psychotherapy. Other areas of expertise are the treatment of depression, grief and loss, anxiety, relational issues, emotional regulation, and difficulties with family of origin.

I offer psychotherapy for college students and young professionals. In my practice I take time to understand what brings you to therapy and take a deep, collaborative approach to treatment. Whether you're looking for therapy to deal with a one-time event or to manage a lifetime stressor, we can facilitate change together to help direct your time and energy towards living the life you want. My training spans many areas of mental health and I have experience with many problems that bring people to therapy. My particular areas of expertise are those most often encountered by 18-35 year olds, including anxiety and stress, depression, sexuality, and confusion about relationships and careers. My motto is "caring curiosity." Together we can develop a trusting relationship to help you understand and change what ails you. I am a licensed clinical social worker providing individual counseling services to individuals ages eighteen and older. Those who come to me are often seeking relief from the challenges of PTSD, anxiety, depression, life transitions, aging, parenting and caregiving, grief and those in or on their journey to recovery. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) which is an evidence based treatment that helps individuals heal from symptoms and emotional distress that are a result of disturbing life events. EMDR is commonly used in the treatment of traumatic memories and PTSD. My practice offers a welcoming and inclusive space where you can safely begin to look at the issues most important to you. Providing guidance on your path to greater stability and healing is my goal. For many, the first and most difficult step is reaching out for help. College students today face so many pressures: family and peer expectations, major life decisions, an onslaught of social media messages, and multiple socio-political crises. Though these problems are daunting, you do not need to face them alone. I would be grateful to accompany you as you respond to the questions and challenges impacting your life. In my work thus far, my clients have often felt a sense of separation or space open up between themselves and their problems. I have helped people feel “known” for who they want to be in life, separate and apart from the influence of depression, anxiety, failure, addiction, conflict, hardship, etc. This gives them more room to explore the forgotten or not-yet-developed stories of their hopes, passions, values, and purposes, which can contribute to a feeling of empowerment in facing whatever difficult experiences brought them to therapy. Though I help people navigate many different kinds of mental and emotional challenges, I have a particular interest in having therapy conversations with folks 1) concerned about the environment, 2) interested in or wondering about their spirituality/ religion, and 3) who identify as men or who are dealing with the effects of patriarchy.
