College can be exciting—but also overwhelming. You may be balancing pressure to perform, adjusting to independence, or quietly struggling with anxiety, loneliness, or burnout. I support college students who feel stretched thin, unsure of their path, or disconnected from who they truly are. In our work together, you’ll find a space to slow down, reflect, and invite God into the process. Whether you’re dealing with academic stress, people-pleasing, perfectionism, or emotional exhaustion, I’ll help you explore how faith, boundaries, and healthy coping can support your peace and growth. You don’t have to carry it all alone. Healing is possible when you have a safe space to be seen, heard, and restored—spiritually, emotionally, and mentally.

I see a whole host of issues in my practice, however I specialize in trauma--whether that is childhood sexual abuse, current sexual assault, chronic trauma that occurred throughout your life (i.e. neglect, chaotic upbringing, etc), or one time events (natural disaster, accidents, deaths). Trauma often leads to a host of other issues, that I also work well with in my practice. Some of the issues I see alongside trauma include anxiety and depression, life transitions, relational conflict, process addictions (such as eating disorders, sex or gaming addiction), substance abuse, or family of origin issues.

I believe that everyone deserves to be seen as a whole, complex person—not just defined by their past. In therapy, it’s important to me that clients feel fully understood and respected for who they are in all their layers. I'm really passionate about exploring the different parts of my clients' identities and how the world around them shapes their experiences. I take an approach that blends attachment, mindfulness, and cultural awareness. I truly believe that our childhood and adolescent experiences can give us important clues about our present behaviors and patterns. I also think that trauma can be passed down from generation to generation, both physically and mentally, and it’s something that often shows up in our lives in unexpected ways. I have a deep compassion for victims and survivors of emotional, physical, financial, sexual, and verbal abuse. I’m a strong advocate for raising awareness about intimate partner violence and unhealthy relationships. I work with clients to heal from their trauma, set healthy boundaries, and speak up for themselves. I want all my clients to feel empowered during their entire therapy journey, and I put a lot of importance on honoring their autonomy. I believe that healing isn’t one-size-fits-all, and it’s my job to create a space where each person can find their own path to healing. I also love bringing in multicultural and diverse healing approaches. I offer a space where clients can bring their spiritual or religious beliefs into therapy if they choose. Creativity plays a big role in healing for me—whether it’s through visual arts, performing arts, writing, storytelling, music, or just being in nature. I think meditation can come in all sorts of forms, and I encourage clients to find what works for them. I’m certified in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), and I have experience in suicide prevention and intervention. I have specific, advanced training in Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP), which is the gold standard for treating OCD. Outside of work, you can find me junk journaling or scrapbooking, doing yoga, styling clothes, or dancing around. I received both my bachelor’s degree in Psychology and masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Agnes Scott College.

Many of the students I work with are dealing with anxiety, stress, sadness, imposter syndrome, or self-doubt. Some are managing heavy academic loads while also worrying about their future. Others are trying to balance school with family expectations, friendships, and romantic relationships. Many feel like they’re supposed to "have it all together" but deep down feel lost, stuck, or just exhausted from trying so hard. In our work together, we focus on giving you a place where you don’t have to perform or pretend. Therapy is a place where you can be honest about what’s hard, get support in making sense of it, and start finding ways to feel more grounded, more confident, and more in charge of your own life — without the pressure to be perfect.

There is a part of me that feels extremely anxious. There is a part of me that gets really sad and down at times. There is a part of part of me that can hardly get out of bed some days. There is a part of me that needs to take care of everyone and everything. There is a part of me that wants to check out and escape from all the responsibilities I have. There is a part of me that thinks about dying and a part of me that wants to live. There is a part of me that …. How many times have we all had these feelings or thoughts that come over us that seem conflicting at times but represent how we are feeling in the moment. Understanding our parts even those that are contradictory, being able to validate and accept our parts, and creating balance and space for our parts mentally can be attained through therapy. Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) is designed to allow us to heal from our pain, hurt, and fears by managing the parts that have been created out of our traumas. We have all experienced trauma in some form, and we all have parts that have been borne from those traumas. Parts that help us manage our daily lives and parts that may tend to disrupt our lives, but all of these parts are valid and serve some self-protective purpose and can be managed once they are understood. Catherine (She/her) As a school social worker for 27 years, I worked with students PreK-12th grade and their families in school and the community. The last 10 years I focused more on the HS level with more personal issues that were affecting students' ability to focus on their classes. I got a reputation as someone who kept their secrets and helped them sort out who they are, esp. around issues of gender disphoria, sexual identity, and depression that frequently accompanies the struggle of self acceptance and showing ones' authentic self to others. College is a tough time for many people. If you think I can help you with this transition, please set up a video conference today. It's as confidential and encrypted as I'm capable to do.

Life is hard. For many of us, we often become overwhelmed by stress, anxiety, loneliness, uncertainty, fear, you name it. To make things worse, we experience trauma and discover that some of our deepest wounds come from our relationships. Of course, we want to protect ourselves from relationships, change, and the unknown. I get that. From working in schools, residential facility, and private practice setting, I've learned that there is also something inside each of us that yearns for healing, loving connection, and pure joy. So, what is getting in the way? Let's explore that together. I have a non-judgmental and compassionate approach when providing counseling for individuals. What that means is I relate to you as another imperfect human being who understands the impact of trauma, life transitions, stress, anxiety and several other factors that affect our day-to-day lives. I will offer you a space to freely explore your struggles and opportunities for healing. Let’s be real, we don’t know each other and it’s going to feel weird at first to share your story with me. I thank you for even considering. Sometimes the hardest step is the first one. I recognize and respect that. Whenever you’re ready, I am ready to join you. You don't have to figure it out on your own.
