Therapists for college students near University of Colorado Boulder
It is an honor and an inspiration to witness a person’s growth. Being a part of that transformation is my passion and my life’s work. I am a transpersonal therapist, meaning that I hold a person’s emotional journey within the larger context of their overall spiritual path. Transpersonal psychotherapy is unique from traditional psychotherapy in that it views a person as a spiritual being who is having a human experience. From that perspective, the process of developing self-awareness is a remembering of the essential nature. Expanding one’s consciousness becomes a sacred unfoldment through which we begin to create ourselves and our lives intentionally. Through a delicate balance of self-love and self-honesty, we can begin to discern the persona we have created from the essence of who we are. As the ego, or personality, becomes increasingly easy to identify, we are able to recognize and resist its programming and begin taking ownership of our choices. Trying to control our external reality is exhausting and ultimately impossible, but our inner reality can be entirely of our choosing. True freedom and security is cultivated within and brings an unshakeable sense of peace to even life’s roughest waters.
We all deserve the opportunity to be our best selves, heal from the past, and create the lives we dream of living. There is power in connection and self-discovery. With professional support, let’s uncover your wisdom and move towards a brighter future.

"I am falling apart on the inside. "This world wasn't built for me." "I am always overwhelmed all the time." "My best never feels good enough." If these thoughts have crossed your mind, I promise you aren’t alone. I hear you, and I want to help. I believe therapy doesn’t happen in a vacuum — our lives are shaped by systems, cultures, and histories that can both support and harm us. In our work together, we’ll look not only at your personal experiences but also at the broader context you live in. My goal is to honor your identity, acknowledge the impact of oppression and marginalization, and create a space where all parts of you feel seen and valued. I draw from person-centered, narrative, existential, and ACT, IFS-informed parts work, and emotionally focused therapy (EFT) approaches, always centering you as the expert in your own life. Together, we’ll explore your story, build on your strengths, and work toward the changes that feel most meaningful to you.
I work with non-linear thinkers who are searching for a therapist with intuitive wisdom who cherishes the divergent path. I specializes in connecting with ADHDers who have always felt different even if others couldn't tell. My clients are notoriously curious and adept improvisors, who are playfully creative, but they still feel perpetually out-of-sync with the world around them. They charm others with their insight and levity, and save the biting criticisms for themselves. So they end up feeling like anxious imposters, waiting to be exposed. Acquiescing to others has helped you get by without too many catastrophes, but deep down you can't keep convincing yourself that you're okay with just getting by. There's a deeper itch that's beckoning you into an alternative way of being. Yes, still different, but personal, integrated, aligned with your soul. I approach therapy as the life-changing work that it is, and while there's a serious commitment to exploring one's psyche, it doesn't mean you or I are required to take ourselves too seriously. Excavating one's own lived experience and the difficulty of navigating a world not built for you is not for the faint of heart, yet we continue to be curious, adapt, and play. I am intentional in creating and holding space for clients to find and share a more authentic version of themselves. Clients are well-met when they bring curiosity about their distinct approach to life, courage to speak what has been left unsaid, and compassion to nurture a deeper truth about themselves.
I work best with students who look like they’re holding it together but feel overwhelmed, anxious, or stuck on the inside. Many of the students I support are managing academic pressure, burnout, self-doubt, or the impact of past experiences while trying to keep up with school, work, and relationships. With nearly a decade of experience in mental health settings, I help students slow things down, make sense of what they’re feeling, and build tools that actually help in day-to-day life. Therapy with me is supportive, practical, and collaborative—a space where you don’t have to have it all figured out to get started.
Are you a neurodivergent person who… Feels like you are constantly masking in order to fit in and feel burnt out from doing so? Struggles with communicating your needs which results in frequent misunderstandings and frustration with other people? Finds yourself in a persistent state of sensory overload which makes everyday tasks feel overwhelming and insurmountable? Feels isolated and alone in your experiences? My passion is helping neurodivergent people be their authentic selves and live a life that is fulfilling and meaningful to them. As a New Yorker living in Colorado, I am warm and outgoing with a no BS attitude. I am a licensed clinical social worker who has over 11 years of experience working with neurodivergent people including autistic humans and ADHDers. I also love working with fellow therapists and others in the helping profession like professors, healthcare professionals, teachers, and the like. My approach is curious, compassionate, humorous, and direct. I strive to ensure that you feel heard, understood and supported. I also believe that you deserve guidance that is free of fluff and that you received concrete next steps for your future endeavors.
I have over 20 years of working with college students in both counseling and pastoral care contexts.
College life and young adulthood is an exciting AND challenging stage of life! The thrill of independence is countered by the weight of adult responsibilities, the excitement of relationships also comes with challenges, and hopes for the future can be weighed down by current stressors and unresolved issues from the past. I love working with young adults as they navigate new challenges, heal from past wounds, and work towards a meaningful future. I work with clients using traditional talk therapy approaches and a modality called Brainspotting, which incorporates mindfulness, body awareness, and acceptance. Together, these interventions are helpful for a wide range of emotional issues.
You want better relationships with your partner, your family, and most importantly, with yourself. Although you've found success in many areas of life, you're struggling to adjust to a recent life change like a move to a new place, the birth of a child, or the start or end of an important relationship. Maybe you've found yourself experiencing more stress than you're used to, you're close to burnout, or you find it really difficult to prioritize your own sense of well-being over others. If any of this sounds familiar to you, I would love to talk with you and learn more about your goals. I work with adults and couples who are motivated to know themselves in a deeper and more compassionate way, and are ready to experience real success during their time in therapy. I can help you get un-stuck and create opportunities for you to tap into your own curiosity, compassion, and creativity so that you’re able to have the life and relationships that you want. Currently accepting both virtual and in-person clients - Hi there! My name is Lindsey. I primarily come from an attachment-based, relational approach, where what matters most is genuine, authentic connection. A story well told is my favorite piece of the human experience. We all have stories full of what happens to us that is outside of our control as well as how we respond to these experiences that is within our control. As your therapist, my hope is to empower you to become the author of your own story and provide you with the support, guidance, and resources you need to pick up the pen and decide where you're going next. I particularly specialize in: ADHD, anxiety, mood disorders. I also work with those struggling with their relationships and/or challenges coming up in life (including but not limited to: school, work, navigating 20s and/or 30s, interpersonal struggles, dating, family dynamics, life stressors, identity development, and values work). I find it to truly be an honor and privilege to be right beside you as you navigate whatever challenges life throws at you. Reaching out for support can be a difficult step, and you are brave for how far you've already come. Feel free to send me a message on here or schedule your own phone consult on my website!
Feeling caught in a pattern in your dating life or committed relationship? Feeling like experiences in your past are making it difficult to attain or sustain connection? I work with individuals, couples and groups, helping them feel more connected to themselves and others. I specialize in dating/online dating, break-ups, couples and premarital therapy, trauma, sexual functioning, and anxiety and depression that often results from these difficulties. Clients I work with are often hoping to change their relationship patterns and build a community of support.
I am most passionate about working with people who have experienced a difficult childhood. If you’re struggling to have healthy relationships with others or control uncomfortable emotions like anxiety, depression, and anger, I can help you navigate these feelings and offer a path forward. My clients often feel stuck or held back by the weight of these experiences. As your therapist, I will collaborate with you to create a safe environment where you can explore and understand these complex experiences and how they may impact your life today. My style of practice is warm, compassionate, and receptive. I believe that you are the only expert on your life and I will do all that I can to be a useful tool as you move towards shaping the life that you want. My approach is a combination of cognitive processing therapy, strengths based, and mindfulness based techniques. We will focus on discovering your strengths and using those as guiding principles as we navigate the journey together. If you’re interested in scheduling a consultation or appointment, please send me an e-mail or give me a call.
Dr. Amy King is a licensed psychologist who specializes in insight-oriented therapy. Symptoms such as panic attacks, depression, or anxiety are often outward signs of a deeper struggle. Coping skills and behavioral strategies are helpful, and sometimes necessary, first steps in managing symptoms. But for those seeking lasting change, clear understanding of the root problem paves the way for effective and powerful interventions that brings deep healing, not just symptom management. If you are tired of fighting the same fight, and if you are ready for productive and energizing change, I’m here for you. Let’s get started!
Deciding to seek therapy can be a hard step to take because it means facing your problems rather than running away from them. When we experience uncomfortable emotions, our instinct a lot of the time is to avoid it and convince ourselves (as well as others) that we're okay. This may lead to short-term relief, however, we often don't realize that it also leads to long-term growth of the issue. This is one way we end up in vicious cycles of depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem (which is difficult enough to deal with on top of college adjustments). My goal is to assist individuals with breaking this cycle by gaining new perspectives on their life situations and in turn empowering them to achieve their personal goals. If you're ready to take the first step toward a brighter future, I would be honored to work with you.
