Therapists for college students near Denver, CO
I accept Anthem, Cigna, United, and Aetna insurance. If you're embarking on finding a therapist for the first time or seeking a new one, you're taking a courageous step toward prioritizing your well-being and health. It's not an easy decision to make, especially considering life's challenges and the accumulation of stress, particularly during academic pursuits or while navigating livelihood demands. With 20 years of experience, I specialize in working with anxiety and stress among young adults. I provide support for individuals dealing with depression, grief, and trauma recovery. What sets my practice apart is my two decades of experience working with stress, anxiety, loss/grief, and traumatic experiences. I work in my office and via telehealth, and I incorporate nature and equine-assisted therapy into the healing process. When partnering with horses, I facilitate connections with the natural world, which fosters transformation and healing of trauma and stress within a safe, confidential environment. I also have an office space in Gunbarrel and work with modalities such as Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems, and EMDR. If you're interested in scheduling a complimentary phone call, please get in touch with me. I also take CU student insurance through Anthem and United Insurance, as well.

Therapy can help you get untangled from old stories, old ways of being that are sabotaging you from living a life you love. You give so much of yourself to others, leaving you feeling depleted and empty inside. You stay busy. You keep caring, doing, and giving to others believing that how you show up for others will make you feel like enough. But it hasn’t, instead there is an urge to distract, stay busy and avoid your self. Believing ‘If I focus on others or on tasks things will get better. I will eventually give enough or do enough to be happy with myself.’ But when will time alone ever feel okay, comfortable, or safe? My professional training and life experiences have led to my empowering focused approach to therapy to help my clients as they navigate these challenges. I help my clients overcome narrations and self-sabotaging beliefs that are leaving them stuck in the same cycle to create a balancing and rewarding life where they realize their own worth. If you are ready to take the next step I offer free 15-minute phone consults where we can find out if I am the therapist who is the right fit for you and your needs. If you are not ready for a phone consult, I invite you to browse my website to get to know me more through there and I hope to chat with you soon.

Hi! I’m Kimberly Carlin, LPC, and I work with women over 18 who want support navigating the ups and downs of life. Between work, relationships, family responsibilities, and personal growth, it’s normal to feel stressed, overwhelmed, or unsure of how to cope. I help women work through: * Anxiety, stress, and burnout * Relationship challenges and setting boundaries * Trauma or emotional abuse * Grief or major life transitions * Body image and disordered eating * Pressure to be “perfect” or meet high expectations * Life transitions such as parenting, career changes, or caregiving responsibilities Here’s what therapy with me looks like: CBT: Helps you spot unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier ones. ACT: Teaches you to accept feelings and focus on what matters most. Somatic Therapy: Uses your body to release stored stress, tension, and anxiety. IFS (Internal Family Systems): Helps you explore different parts of yourself and understand conflicting thoughts, emotions, or behaviors. Inner Child Work: Helps you understand how past experiences shape your feelings today. EMDR: A specialized approach that helps painful memories feel less overwhelming. Christian Counseling and Prayer (optional): For women who desire, therapy can integrate Biblical principles, prayer, and exploring God’s perspective of who you are to guide healing, self-worth, and decision-making. I provide online therapy and am licensed in multiple states, so you can continue care even if you travel, work remotely or move. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you feel understood, gain clarity, and build tools to navigate life with more confidence, self-compassion, and faith-based guidance if desired. Whether you’re feeling stressed, struggling with relationships, wanting to process trauma, or navigating major life transitions, I’m here to support you. Welcome! I specialize in working with anxiety, relationship concerns, and eating/body image issues. College can be a whirlwind of new experiences, freedoms, and responsibilities. Add to that the current state of the world, and things can easily feel heavy. It's common that in the overwhelm of managing it all, anxiety around life, relationships, and food becomes a way to cope. If you've been struggling, you don't have to carry the weight of it alone-- finding a therapist you like and trust can change everything. I am trained in somatic therapy, which means we include body awareness as a way to get beneath the conscious mind and anxious thoughts that play on repeat. This helps to get in touch with what's really going on and find sustainable relief. Clients often say that somatic therapy promotes deeper change than other types of therapy they've tried before. I know it can take a lot of energy to start with a new therapist. I'm proud of you for caring for yourself by taking these steps. Reach out for a free 30-minute call so we can get to know each other and see if it's a good fit. I look forward to hearing from you!

My focus as an integrative psychotherapist is on holistic well-being rather than illness. We are generally born in a state of inner harmony, wholeness and health, and as we experience life’s ups and downs, our emotional state can become unbalanced. While validating challenges and offering guidance, my primary goal is to support clients in rediscovering their own inner resources to successfully move forward in a meaningful way. My approach includes an emphasis on creative potential; finding purpose and joy; growth and change; trust and respect. With empathy, warmth and practical tools, I support clients as they increase their understanding and confidence to make progress dealing with depression and isolation, anxiety and stress, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, communication challenges, boundary issues, self-esteem, life transitions, and family conflicts. I enjoy working with diverse populations of all ages and backgrounds as they gain wisdom and insight into their own lives and move toward personal empowerment and resilience. I’m particularly interested in parenting, healthy communications, life adjustments, self-awareness, and supporting caregivers whose loved ones have dementia. As a registered art therapist, I am also trained to provide a creative way for clients to express what may be hard to talk about, especially during times of crisis or difficulty. Art is universal and promotes playfulness, self-expression, and imagination. Art therapy can be a helpful addition to traditional talk therapy. It’s important that my clients feel comfortable and safe in the therapy room: seen, heard, validated, and understood. I look forward to joining you on your unique journey of self-discovery and personal growth.
I believe that therapy is a unique experience that provides a safe place to assist in acknowledging resiliency, providing hope and cultivating healing and growth within individuals and interpersonal relationships. All clients come in with their own personality, strengths, struggles, and differing walks of life. In order to match this, I operate from a person-centered approach and emphasize each individual’s strengths to empower and challenge them to grow while assisting in defining their own goals and successes. While I have experience in working with individuals, couples and families, I have found that my passion lies within helping adolescents and young adults navigate the challenges that naturally come along with this exciting, yet stressful season of life. As many clients come to therapy not of their own choosing or with skepticism, I place emphasis on building a therapeutic relationship with validation, trust, accountability, candid feedback and a little bit of humor as needed! Enough about me, I can't wait to learn more about you! -Ashley
