Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with eight years of combined clinical experience, my work is rooted in one simple belief: that quality mental health care should be accessible to everyone, at every stage of life. Specializing in medication management across the lifespan, I bring both clinical expertise and a deeply personal commitment to the patients I serve. Growing up as a first-generation American raised by Spanish parents, I understand firsthand how language and cultural barriers can stand between people and the care they deserve. That lived experience fuels my passion for culturally competent mental health care, and my dedication to ensuring that you feel truly understood and supported throughout your treatment. Evidence-based practice guides everything I do, because you deserve care that is both thoughtful and grounded in what works. You can expect an environment that is open, kind, and collaborative from our first meeting. Using a conversational approach to assessment and treatment planning, my goal is always to meet you where you are, not where anyone else thinks you should be. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, you are seen as a whole person, with your own story, values, and needs shaping the direction of your care. Every treatment plan we build together reflects that holistic perspective. Finding the right path forward is a partnership, and your voice matters every step of the way. My path to becoming a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner began in an oncology office, where assisting patients receiving chemotherapy became far more than a clinical task. Sitting with people during some of their most vulnerable moments, offering conversation and a bit of warmth in the middle of something so difficult, revealed how profoundly meaningful human connection can be in a care setting. These experiences made it clear that mental health was where my work was meant to go. That early foundation continues to inform the care offered today, reminding me that presence, compassion, and genuine attention are just as important as clinical skill. When not at work, you'll likely find me out on the trails with my dogs, gliding across the ice figure skating, moving through a Pilates session, or discovering new foods while exploring somewhere new. These pursuits keep me grounded and curious, qualities that carry right back into the care I bring to every patient.

College is like a pressure cooker of compounding transitions. On top of demanding coursework, you are likely navigating the intense world of identity exploration. This can mean a lot of things; from the deeply personal layers of discovering your sexual orientation and gender identity, to simply figuring out who you are as an individual and what you actually want out of romantic and sexual relationships. As a queer therapist, I intimately understand the unique difficulties of navigating these shifts. I have walked this path myself, personally navigating profound changes in my own sexual orientation and gender identity, and I know how isolating it can feel to explore these core parts of yourself while trying to maintain your GPA. It is incredibly common to feel stuck in a major or career track that feels entirely wrong, paralyzed by the fear of starting over. I know that panic firsthand. I spent years working as a software developer before a season of deep introspection and counseling gave me the courage to make a massive pivot. Today, I am in a field I love deeply; one that brings me genuine passion far beyond a paycheck. If you are feeling misaligned with your current path, I offer specialized career counseling to help you cut through the external expectations, decode your true strengths, and confidently identify a professional field that actually fits your authentic self. Whether you are drowning in academic stress, untangling painful relationship patterns, processing trauma, or facing a complete directional pivot, you do not have to figure it out alone. Together, we will address the practical mechanics of stress management while diving deep into the relational dynamics that keep you stuck. I provide an encouraging, explicitly inclusive, and safe space where no topic is too messy or taboo. Your college years can feel incredibly destabilizing, but our work together will help you build the self-trust and clarity needed to step out of survival mode and into a life that is genuinely, authentically your own.

I am originally from California, but have called Colorado (Denver) my home for the last thirteen years. While I do miss the ocean, I love being in the mountains and all they have to offer. When I am not working, I am often playing in my garden, doing something in the kitchen, spending time with friends and family, or traveling. I am the same person during session as I am outside of session; laid back, a little goofy, genuinely curious about others’ lives, and compassionate. I use she/her pronouns. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) and am licensed to see clients in Colorado, Indiana, Florida and Nevada. I have been practicing therapy since 2013 and truly enjoy working with my clients. I love learning about how trauma and stress can impact our minds, bodies and nervous systems and the ways we can heal and start to feel better. I am a Certified Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist as well as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP). I often use a mixture of EMDR, Somatic Experiencing (SE), attachment, parts focused, and mindfulness techniques to help clients begin to unpack stressful or traumatic events and begin to integrate a sense of healing back into their minds and bodies. These techniques can be helpful for clients struggling with anxiety and depression symptoms, who have experienced one or more traumatic events, substance use, emotion regulation, or uncomfortable body sensations.

Offering therapy sessions in-person from my office in West Arvada, and convenient virtual sessions from anywhere in CO, MT, VT, ID and FL! The jump into adulthood is a wild ride. Even if you seem like you’ve “got it together,” there’s a lot happening—new social circles, changing relationships, big life decisions, and school or work stress that can feel like… a lot. It’s normal to need extra support while figuring out who you are and how you want to show up in the world. I create a safe, judgment-free space where you can talk it out, process what’s going on, and actually feel heard. We’ll work on developing effective coping strategies, building your confidence, learning how to set boundaries, and communicate effectively with those in your life. Sometimes it’s easier to open up to someone outside your everyday life—someone who can help you see things from a different angle without the drama. I have extensive experience working with diverse populations of children and young adults, and I’m passionate about helping people overcome obstacles and thrive. My approach is empathetic, nonjudgmental, and honest. I strive to meet people exactly where they are and support them in moving toward their goals. I grew up in Vermont, lived in Hawai‘i, NYC, and Denver and now call Whitefish, Montana home. When I’m not working, you’ll find me hiking in the mountains, relaxing at the lake, at a live show, or hanging out with my rescue dog, Hendrix.

With nearly 15 years of experience as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC), I specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma recovery, substance use recovery, and life transitions. I support adults in creating meaningful change through a collaborative and strengths-based approach, helping you work through emotional challenges, relationship concerns, self-esteem struggles, and the process of healing from past experiences so you can develop greater self-compassion, resilience, and a deeper connection with yourself. I believe in the power of compassionate connection and each person's capacity for growth. That belief shapes how I show up: a supportive, authentic partner in your healing journey, walking alongside you as you gain insight, reconnect with your strengths, and create a life that feels more balanced, meaningful, and fulfilling. Creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered is central to my work, as my goal is to help you build the self-awareness, resilience, and self-compassion needed to create lasting change. I'm passionate about helping you reconnect with yourself, and I see therapy as a journey of self-discovery, healing, and transformation, one that includes both deep emotional work and moments of hope, gratitude, and laughter. Together, we'll work toward an environment where you feel supported, valued, and understood as you build the tools you need. I use evidence-based, person-centered, and integrative therapy approaches to help you heal, grow, and develop those tools. My style is warm and authentic, and I tailor my approach to your unique needs, experiences, and goals, honoring that every individual's path to healing is different. My path to becoming a therapist began with a lifelong desire to understand, support, and help others through difficult seasons of life. Over the years, my experience working alongside individuals facing a variety of challenges has deepened my commitment to providing compassionate, person-centered care. Now, I’m honored to bring warmth, authenticity, and curiosity to each session, as I believe that healing happens through genuine connection and that a safe space allows you to be fully yourself while recognizing your strengths, resilience, and capacity to grow. Outside of work, I love spending time with friends and family, hiking, listening to music, learning to play the bass guitar, reading, exploring my creativity through painting and writing, and cherishing every moment with my beloved dog, Bodhi.

We believe that everyone is inherently driven to heal and become the fullest version of themselves. By providing children, adolescents and young adults with support and unconditional acceptance, we allow them to become the leaders of their own healing journey. Play therapy for adults?! It may sound quirky, but the essential values of play therapy (connection, emotional expression, facing your challenges with unconditional support) lend themselves beautifully to anyone’s healing process, no matter your age. Young adulthood is a time of tremendous change and transition, but that doesn’t mean you have to sort through all of those challenges on your own. Therapeutic support can be immensely helpful as you really discover who you are, what you want, and how you want to be in the world. If you are interested in learning more about our services, for you or for your child, please feel free to reach out to us! We are happy to offer you a free 30-min consultation to answer any questions you may have.

Healing and growth takes place in the context of relationships - in our relationship with ourselves, and in our relationships with others. Unfortunately, our relationships can sometimes become distant, disconnected and a place of conflict, leaving us with unmet needs and just feeling “stuck.” We don’t feel safe asking for what we need, and maybe don’t even know what we need ourselves. The therapeutic relationship in counseling provides an authentic and safe place in which healing can begin to take place. My goal is to provide you with a space where you feel seen and heard; where you feel safe to explore your story and your experiences; a space where you can work through some of the hard things in a way that moves you towards a deeper sense of wholeness and connection. If you'd like to find out if this is a good place for you to address some of these things for yourself, reach out and we can schedule a free 15-minute consultation to see if it would be a good fit!

My approach draws on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and somatic therapy, always grounded in empathy, validation, and trauma-informed care. I believe your struggles are rarely just one stand-alone issue — they reflect a combination of your history, your lived experience, and how the world has affected you. Together, we create a collaborative and compassionate environment where you remain in charge, and I'm here to support your journey of healing. My path to becoming a therapist began with my own experience of loss and trauma during a major life transition, when I struggled to access the mental health support I needed. I bring this perspective into my care with you, focusing on your needs and experiences to achieve your healing goals. My hobbies include reading, gardening and spending time outside with my family.

As a mental health professional backed by five years of social work experience in trauma-heavy fields, I understand the complexity of how harm affects the mind and body. Now, through compassion and collaboration, I am committed to helping adolescents and adults face systemic and interpersonal challenges by utilizing a holistic approach to mental health care. Guided by a belief in dignity, I practice cultural humility, which helps me be respectful and open to other worldviews and to patients with experiences vastly different from mine. I look forward to meeting you where you are and seeing how we can make your reality work best for you. My focus is on trauma-informed care, a psychospiritual framework, and meaning-making in people's lives. You'll notice I often ask what brings you joy, incorporating that into our work together while holding space to recognize where there is dissonance in your life, how two or more things can be true at once, and what that means for your experience and relationships. I value facing fear with compassion and patience, holding immense respect for people courageous enough to ask for help, along with a belief that it is okay not to be okay. Throughout our time together, you can expect a calm, collaborative, and empowering environment tailored to your unique goals. Using a strengths-based perspective, and knowing that you are the expert on your own experience, I help you recognize what you have accomplished, even in the toughest of your struggles, and how those strengths can continue to grow. My path to becoming a therapist was unexpected: my original plan was to become a member of the clergy, and I have honored spirituality through work in interfaith ministry. Through social work, I discovered I enjoy helping people heal and grow more than leading them, which is what ultimately drew me away from that path. It started by working with people experiencing homelessness and then in residential care for students with behavioral disabilities before being drawn back to school to pursue therapy. My diversity in my professional career has led to a deep commitment to providing care that honors the whole person and is judgment-free in each session. I enjoy hiking, swimming, and biking in nature; mountains and rivers speak to my soul. I appreciate art, but know nothing about it – I just like to look. One of my more unique hobbies is seeking out spiritually diverse experiences, and I am also one of those people obsessed with the color purple.

I believe we don't have to face life's difficult moments alone. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, chronic stress, questions about identity and belonging, or navigating a new stage of life, I aim to work collaboratively as we define goals, and build resilience and self-awareness. My work is rooted in trauma informed, person-centered and non-pathologizing care. One of the things I value most as a therapist is remaining open to learning. I am passionate about understanding the many identities, cultures, and experiences that shape our lives and about recognizing how larger systems and environments influence our wellbeing. Hi there! I work with people who come to therapy for all sorts of reasons, but often because they want to feel better about who they are. Maybe you feel alone or like you're not sure where you're going in life, or your family isn't what you wish it was. As a a therapist, I like to help people look beneath the surface, beyond the symptoms, and understand what’s really going on. Why *do* you get anxious? Why does it feel like something’s missing? Maybe you know what you should do, but you just can’t seem to bring yourself to do it. Getting a better understanding of how your life has shaped who you are today can help make some of those things feel less confusing—and sometimes make change feel a little more possible. I have a particular soft spot for working with people who feel alone or different in some kind of way. While I may or may not have lived through the same things, I work hard to make therapy feel like a place where you can share those parts of yourself and maybe feel a little less alone. Before going into therapy, I spent over a decade working in tech, doing data analytics and software engineering at both big corporations and startups. This gives me a unique perspective on what post-college life might look like, as well as an appreciation for some of the challenges tech poses for people just starting their careers.
